New top is on

    I got the car back from the upholstery shop yesterday, I had a new top put on.

    The base cost was $1200.00 for the heavy weight vinyl. My frame needed some new tack strips and other minor work, total cost was $1400.00. I do not know what brand top it is, I trust the shop and the products they use. I can tell you that the back side of the material is a very nice soft cloth, not vinyl. It feels very rich.

    That looks super!- Just a hint: Don't leave the top down for any length of time- You will end up with wrinkles behind the side windows that will NOT come out with steam or restretching-(see pic close up) That is how the former owner of my 72 convert left it all the time-cause it looked "cool" in his garage.

    Thanks! The owner of the upholstery shop told me basically the same thing.

    I thought to myself after he told me this "Wow, that really su*ks, a new convertible and you're supposed to leave the top up?" But I do understand just not to leave it that way for extended times. Wind in the hair is the BEST way to go!
