I have bought a 72 Skylark that I am making into a GS clone. It has a fresh repaint of original color Spring Green, a metallic green. The original white interior has been replaced with black. It needs a new top and I feel that the white top would look better than the black, has anyone seen a black interior with a white top, is this too funky? Thanks Tim
Original top on the Car Reg Tompson Bought from My Brother was White, Gulf Stream Blue Exterior, and Black Bench seat Interior. 70 Stage1 Convertible. White top is more difficult to keep clean, and doesn't absorb as much heat. My 70 is a Dark Green, with Sandalwood, interior and a Tan (Sand ) convertible top. Do it as You want, It's Your Car. JR
JR, did the cars have vinyl parade boots if so what color? I am cloning this car into a GS455 convertilble, it's turning out very nice and I will probably be selling it when I am done. So I am wondering what color top would be more appealing? Thanks Tim
Parade Boots NO. Boots or Top Cover's Yes, Usually matched Interior color. Parade Boot/Cover IF I am correct, usually was made of Fiberglass so that it would be strong enough for someone to sit on for Parades etc. I believe LeSabre & Centurion had them for that, but don't know of any "A" cars that did. DON'T let anyone sit on Your Soft Boot or the Top, unless you want to get into all kinds of problems. JR
My 1970 olds 442 w-30 was original rallye red(bright orange) with black interior and black stripes with a white top. Boot cover( I don't know who termed the phrase parade cover after all how many of these cars were ever used in parades?) is always the same color as interior color in Gm A body cars. I have seen green converts with both these combos and they both look good your choice.
