Hello fellow Buick owners. I just purchased a 61 LeSabre two door sedan for a street rod project. I am new to the Buick world and am excited about the prospects of my car. I've doing my research and have found that my car is somewhat rare. It has also come to my attention that it is hard to find aftermarket products for it as well. I am needing help with the following: Does anyone out there know of a cheap or expensive disc brake conversion for my car?? I would also like to put a 455 and Thurbo 400 out of a 70' Riviera in the car. Does anyone out there have any advise on how to get this done? Motor mount swaps and so on. Any help with supplier leads and advise would be greatly appreciated. Sincerely, Tim Riegel Lamar, Mo. :beer
Tim, welcome to V8Buick! You may want to post this in the Classic Buicks forum here too. More likely to find guys there that have put 455/400 combos in early 60's models.
Tim, Where is Lamar? It doesn't ring a bell to me. Southwest? Check out the Buick Parts Directory Here It may have some of what you're looking for. I've been constantly adding sources to this site, so hopefully we can all find the things we need there soon. BTW, where did the car come from? Staunton, IL? I remember a 61 LeSabre at Country Classic Cars...its was blue.
Adam, thanks for the help. Lamar is located in southwest corner of Missouri by Joplin. I found the car on a local farm!!! The was sitting on a slab of concrete just waiting to be saved. The car on Country Classics was a 61 LeSabre "bubble" top. My car is a two door sedan with posts. The top looks very simular to a 61 chevy biscayne. The roof line extends over the back glass. I really think it will make a cool looking streetrod! Thanks for the support! Tim:grin:
Scott, I don't have any digital pics yet. I plan on posting picks of my progress as I go. Right now the car is fairly straight but needs to be totally gone through. Hope to have some pics soon. Thanks, Tim.
