Comon I know you guys got something going on quit drinking so much beer.

I want to put the TA510 cam back in and up the convertor to a 4000 stall need those damn heads.

Well seriously, you don't have far to go to max out without a roll bar which would be 11.50 seconds in the QM! On all engine you have a bit more you can gain though so you wouldn't need as much N02 to max out without said safety equipment after an upgrade.

With the heads and intake with a roller cam you could actually go with bit milder grind and still go faster. Unless you want to find the RPM limit of your cap screw rods? :eek2:

Any plans on a new short block to bolt on under those new heads and intake? Might as well just swap out the entire engine assembly? :Do No:

Get some more modern lightweight pistons with the new TA sbb 350 H-beam rods so you can take advantage of the RPM potential of the new heads if you like to spin to win? Or with a roller cam and the new heads you may want to be a bit more conservative to keep that older designed heavier rotating assembly spinning. :TU:

The nascar take outs are a great option as well even if you don't go with the extra stroke! They are lighter than the TA rods that they kept as heavy as the factory rods so the stock class guys can use them. Not sure if they had to go with the cap screw heavier weight or the nut and bolt rod weight? If they were able to go with the N&B rod's weight then they could be around 100 grams lighter than the rods you're using now?(which wouldn't be much more than the nascar take out rod's weight, about 50 grams more)

I'm glad you have some new testing planned, you should have a lot of fun this year, just keep it safe.

I hope that someone here will exactly do like you have said. I just do not know how far I can go on this. I would bet the heads will get close to 3 grand by the time you get some clean up and port a little more. But you never know, if the heads come up close to 300 on the intake you can get some very good power out of this. The heads may tap me out unless this new job I am getting gets me more cash flow.

I have to be on the Obama care and it is now up to 577$ a month now. This is a silver plan with 3500 deductible and I still seem to pay for most of the bill. Had a deviated septum fixed and this cost ME 2500.00 for hospital 900.00 to the doctor, and 500.00 to get knocked out. It was a 16,000.00 bill but after the nego the ins co. does how much did they really pay.

Did I pay the whole bill? Looks like it!

This is what is slowing me down BIG time on getting new parts. In 2010 the same ins cost me 155.00 per month. I also make less money than 10 years ago but I hope my new job will now surpass that.

Ok enough of that and I agree with you, get some lighter rods, pistons, but you know that some of these guys are spinning to 6500 and so far all is well. The cam could be smaller but you should have heard my engine with that 510 cam. The engine was still loping at over 2000 rpm and it sounded like a race engine, I have not heard any other engine sound like this with any 350, Mart probably has the closest sounding engine to mine. The smaller Lunati cam just makes it sound like a cam with a good lope like most of the 350's I hear on here.

I would really like to get the engine to have more power with out the nitrous since crap can happen with this no matter how careful you are. That is why I had backed off the nitrous setting from a 125 shot down to a more manageable 75-80 shot. I have the smallest jets I can put in now. I still ran a 12.42 which was a surprise.

I bet that small shot with the SP3 and the heads will put it back into the 11's with no problem. Running that high 11 to 12.10 range is a good place to be for bracket racing. Minimal amount of spin off the tires and fast enough to run with the big blocks, plus a small shot of nitrous will keep everything cooler in the system and we all know how well cold air makes HP:Brow:

My engine was set up to run that 510 cam and the motor is completely balanced, I had the race shop take care of all this work when I had it built. Probably why it has lasted for 23rd year this year.

If you go roller, that 510 cam will sit on the shelf till it rusts! Throw it back in, just cost you a gasket or two. Restall the convertor you have to 4k and you're off!:3gears:
Besides, that's the biggest flat tappet 350 cam TA has and we want to hear it.

I don't pay that High insurance any more and this now giving enough extra money to maybe get some new parts. upgrade coming

The nitrous explosion was more fun almost caught the air cleaner on fire. That's what happens when the bottle warmer warms up the bottle too much.

Bracket racing is a blast once you get the car consistent, That was part of my plan with the nitrous was to use this to help keep the intake cool so the times could stay consistent, This was one of the reasons I took some jet out from the 125 shot days run about a 75-80 shot gives cooling to the intake and not as hard on the motor.

I run the total timing at 28* and get to the 12.30 range so this is right where I want to be to bracket race. the timing is easy on the engine and plugs look good and all so I am going to leave it there.

I don't know what is going to happen when I stuff that solid lifter cam in. And based on my times from back then to now the motor seems to be in good shape.
