Please be kind. I'm a Ford guy and I just picked up a nice '67 Buick Special Deluxe, 2-door hardtop, 340-4, automatic. Very nice car, 43K original miles, always garaged, never hit, original paint, interior, vinyl roof, no rust at all. I'll get some pictures posted this evening. The car needs very little, but there are a few things I need to fix. One of them is the windshield seal. Funny story... during my test drive with the owner, he mentioned that it had a pretty significant air leak. I said that must leak when it rains. He said, "I don't know, it's never been driven in the rain"... and I believe it from looking at the car. Anyway, I say all that to say I have no idea where to start looking for parts for this car. There are tons of mustang parts outlets that I use when working on my '65 2+2 GT, but I don't know where to start regarding simple parts like the windshield seal.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" /><o:p></o:p>
    Any guidance would be appreciated.<o:p></o:p>
    <o:p></o:p>
The car came with the original owners manual and the protect-o-plate. It also came with the original invoice as sold to the owner. All of the options were itemized on the invoice, but they are all coded. I've decoded the VIN and part of the body tag and POP, but I can't find the option decoder. I'll post the option codes when I get home from work.<o:p></o:p>
    <o:p></o:p>
    That's all for now,<o:p></o:p>
    thanks.<o:p></o:p>
    Todd.<o:p></o:p>

Thanks, It looks like I've resolved my windshield seal issue. I found a highly recommended local guy that's going to fix that. So, one down.

I've got some pictures, but my post count is too low to post them.

    Todd,
Welcome, As an old Ford mechanic, I can tell you that buick and ford does a lot of things alike. i have worked on both down tru the years.
the 67 special has a lot of parts that are common to the years 64 thru 67.
Some sources of parts are Postens buick parts, in atmore ala. ta performance in az. hemmings motor news, ebay. ect.
    Legendary interriors for upholstry.
I like Buicks because not every body has one.

The next thing to review is the A/C. It's all there but it needs charging. I'm guessing that I might as well convert it to R134. Anything to be aware of on this model?

The only goofy part of the a/c is the previous owner had a problem with the compressor kicking on and he rigged up a manual switch for the compressor. The blower switch works fine, but I'm not sure how the compressor switch was supposed to work originally. I'm assuming it's part of the a/c-heat controls. Is there a compressor relay somewhere? Anything else I need to check with the a/c?

Gerry, I wasn't really looking for a buick when I ran across this car. I'm a car guy and I love all the old cars... all makes. I was more interested in finding a nice original car and was just looking for the best car I could find for my money. This particular buick really is "special". It needs a few maintenance items like new shocks, but I plan on leaving this one pretty much stock.

Hi Todd - just a recommendation: If you really need information make a new thread. For example, if you want body tag info, make a new thread with "Help - need body tag info" as the subject. That really gets attention focus on your specific need and folks who have the information will see a clear subject.

    Sweet 67 Todd!
Looks just like my first 67 did when I drove it in high school.
    Same colors and everything.

It was listed by a friend of the owner. I had called about it since it was local to me. It sold on ebay but the buyer couldn't come up with funds. They called me since it didn't sell. I ended up getting it for significantly less than the ebay selling price. I had the cash and they needed to sell it. It had been in an enclosed garage for many years and the owner lost his lease. He didn't have anywhere to keep it. Worked out for me. I'm not aware of it being listed multiple times, though.
