Nice looking Regal but I can't help either as my Regal is just a drag car. It may help if you displayed a picture of your dash and what you have done so far. Good luck

Hi Josh, mighty fine looking Regal there:3gears:

if you are looking to add some aftermarket guages, take a look at Kirbans Performance.
They have guage pods you can mount on the A pillar, or under the radio in that little spare change tray (assuming you have buckets and console).
If you have the bench seat a triple guage set up under the dash or radio
    should work well.
Lets see your dash and why you dont like your set up

    Illinois huh?
sounds like you need to go here too >>> ccgsca<<< :Brow:

Im definitely going to have to check out the ccgsca next year, im currently under going major reconstructive work on the car, currently im working on the dash and this weekend will be putting a electric fuel system, complete from cell to carb. Then comes the fun stuff, putting the new tranny crossmember in and finally installing the long tubes ive had for ever and just never put on...

    Hi Josh,
I used an aluminum plate to mount my gauges in, also have the brights indicator and turn signals from the original dash in there, i made light sockets that screw in the back of the plate, i don't have the blue light covers in anymore, they weren't bright enough for driving,

JONM!! you are doing exactly what I wanted to do, here are my pics of what i got done and was not happy with, please elaborate on how you cut the aluminum, i see you retained the old dash cover that is one of my probz is that mine is the old style cover with individual guage spots ( too small for the new gauges, perhaps i need to get a surround similar to yours...

anyways here are the pics of what i had and if you or anyone else would elaborate on some more specifics that would be great...

did you eliminate the black plastic piece behind the dash? and so on...

Hey Josh, I got your pm, i will try to answer some questions here, so others can chime in too, the alum plate is sheared from a sheet, it is about 3/16th thick, i went to fastenal and bought a center arbor and a 2 1/16 hole saw, and a 3 3/8 hole saw, my speedo and tach are the street rod series and are slightly smaller than their normal line, I used cardboard and paper to make templates until i was happy with the layout, I've also seen other dashes similar to mine.

To get the gauges and brights/turn signal lights to work i used the factory wiring, (i have a couple manuals f you need wire colors just let me know), i got a push in light and socket from napa, and made small "buckets" for the indicator lights, and they are held in with one bolt each from the back.

Behind the original dash is gutted out,I remember I had to sawzall some plastic out of there, i mounted small angle iron to the side and the new dash plate is fastened to that on each side, the front plastic piece just pushes in like the factory made it, i did use the die grinder to make the opening bigger,

The center console is 7/16 osb board with black speaker carpet glued and stapled to it, the storage bucket and lid is from a 2000 grand prix painted black to match, it works well, and was built around the B&M shifter.

hope this helps, any more questions just ask, i can take different pics too if you need,

    Jon

id love to see as many pics as your willing to take, as far as the angle iron did you fasten the alumi with like pop rivets or something? when you cut the cluster cover how did you spare it from have rough edges at the seams where the aluminum and cover portion meet? all my gauges have locations for the lighting so i not so worried about that but where to tap this into would be informative... i could definitely use some wiring colors etc, i dont know if you can just scan the schematic and email it to me or what but once again any help you can provide would be great...im getting excited about this whole project all over again :)

    Hi Josh,
The angle iron behind the alum plate is held to the original plastic in the car with fine thread screws, the plate is then held in with 10-32 flat head screws, if i ever have to change a light bulb, ...or maybe install colored LED's i will have access to it, i took a couple pictures, I think that the photos you will be interested in i will have to drop the steering colum to remove and slide the assembly out, i can do that if you want, I would like to wait till the end of the month when the insurance goes off of it, the 'cluster cover' was cut with a carbide in my die grinder, they cut fast, I just had to sand the edges a little and touch it up with black paint, the outer cover fits tight against the aluminum,
Now you have to tell us more about your build..... what kinda wheels are those? size and backspacing? and tire size? they look good on there.

Yeah i don't want to inconvience you, when you get that point if i haven't figured something out yet id appreciate any pics you could send me. I started working on it last night, got the cover cut out and sanded using a dremel, it turned out pretty good considering i was going to paint it when i was done, got the alumi cut out tonight for the gauges, then i started looking at the cover, comparing it to the old one and realized it's not going to work do to the location of the air vents and clips being in different locations :( , im now going to start over 2morrow using the old cluster, which is going to be a bit more interesting to cut...hopefully it turns out ok but im still going to be at ends on how to keep the aluminum tight up against the cover but where there's a will there's a way right?! I could really use those wiring schematics if you can get them to me some way.

On another note, the build has been 6yrs and running, motor is a stage 1 455 w/ ported & polish iron stg 1 heads. Has kenne bell deep sump pan, forged crank and pistons, kenne bell timing chain, crower cam, mallory unilite w/ mallory 7C ignition, 850 demon carb, kenne bell 1.6 roller rockers. Going to sump the original gas tank next week a run all new fuel lines including mallory 110 electric pump and 4309 regulator. Car has all the bracing poston's sells. Bilsteins all around. Upper and lower control arms. The wheels are 17" centerline daggers w/ 245 raptors on them. As far as backspacing I don't remember but if i stumble upon the paperwork ill let you know. Ive got headers too for it just dreading that job, probably will try to tackle this winter.

How about you? Whats up with yours?
