I hope the market drops!!! If I didn't buy my house form mom & dad I know I sure as hell wouldn't have been able to afford Edison, my neighbor just closed on his house yesterday, it sold for $410,000 he bought it new in 1968 for a mere $32,000:eek2:

    Hey Erwin,

Another fellow Edison-ite here. I grew up there back in the 60's & 70's. The town has changed drastically...

Another newbie here. Some may recognize the car:

I have perused the boards extensively & I recognize a few folks, namely Mike Kamm & Greg Gessler.

Mike & I have known each other for roughly 35 years. I met Greg back in 1982 or so. Let me say both these guys have their acts together & run some beautiful, frighteningly fast cars. They work harder than most & are top notch in their craft!!

My 1973 GTO was purchased in 1983 in all original form. It now houses a Larry Hansen built 470 inch engine. Quickest time through mufflers & slicks 11.97 @ 111.3 with a 1.62 sixty foot, with slicks & open exhaust 11.85 @ 113.3 with a 1.60 sixty foot.
With street tires it will run 12.10's @ 112 with a best of 1.71 sixty foot. These times are recent (11/28/03) at Atco Raceway.

Future FAST participant? Don't know. If so, I gotta ditch the headers & intake. And I KNOW I would have a ton of work to do based on reading these posts. You guys are ALL top notch!

    Regards!

Thanks for the greeting Marty:) I guess you remember Edison when the north Edison was all farmland where I live now, but as you saw in an earlier post, it sure beats Irvington :(

I've heard alot about Larry Hansen, his shop isn't too far from me. If you're a regular at some of the local cruise nights in your area my friend George Reynolds from Brick has a black on black '69 GTO with a 455 that Larry did for him back in 2000 and he swears by Larry:)

I usually go to the cruise nights on Satrudays at Home Depot on Rt 9 south, I'd also see my other Olds pal Harry Lager Sr he's also popular around the local cruises, he has a blue 67 W-30, him and George usually also go to Freehold & the huge one in Jackson on the last Fri of the month

Hopefully I'll run into you at a cruise night or at the track, that's a nice GTO you have there :)

    Erwin,

Yeah I remember - All Star Dairy used to be there in N Edison. I lived in S Edison by Westinghouse. Its not the same there anymore...

Larry Hansen is a GREAT guy & superb machinist!! He has built two engines for me over the years & his work is first rate! My first was pretty much a stock rebuild (in 1987) Pontiac 455, .030" over, 9.2 to 1 compression with ported heads & a stock "068" cam, stock manifold & Q-Jet. Best time for that combo with 3.23 gears & 11" 2500 stall converter was 13.002 at 104, at 4200 lbs race weight. That engine lasted 10 years & had the living SNOT beat out of it with zero failure. I can't even fathom the exact number of quarter mile passes on it. It has to be in the thousands...

I usually go to the local Freehold cruises without the car & just take a quick look. The car has gotten shabby looking as it hasn't been garaged for 4 years & the original paint is getting pretty sorry looking. Thanks for the kind words - I will probably run into you too at some point.

    Marty
