I thought maybe, Louisiana. But LA is what we here in Alabama call Baldwin and Mobile Counties.
Anyway, Louisiana, Los Angeles, Lower Alabama, or wherever, Welcome!
It's good to see your going to put another barn Buick on the road.

    A 72 Skylark Custom convertible isn't exactly a slouch of a car.
Not in my opinion at least :bglasses:

    Absolutely, not a slouch.

You anywhere near the New Orleans area or the northshore?

Yep. Grew up in New Orleans and the Northshore. In Houma now. Parents still live on the Northshore. That's where the car resides.

I don't know that I'd go as far as calling the car a slouch, but I never felt that it was fast by any means. Completely stock and single exhaust never screamed "muscle" to me. It looked cool, being a convertible, but little bitty wheels and tires on a big floating body never seemed right. It's always worn whitewalls too...yeauck. Stock rally wheels are just too small. Stretch them out to 16" and widen them quite a bit, but still keep a good amount of sidewall and I'd love it for a "stock" look. The single exhaust would have to at least grow to 3" and make some kind of noise. Duals would look better.

It could definately be a fun project and fit my idea of "cool" eventually. It probably would never get much bodywork or paint done, but it would run and drive well.

I see you're in MS probably. I used to go to Gulfport dragstrip every now and then. My old Neon still does sometimes. It's a younger guy I sold it to, lives above Gulfport and he nicknamed it "The Bruise", being it has a black frontend and smurf blue rear, and beats up on quite a lot of "muscle" cars. He's taken it to the track some up there, but likes to street race I think. Not my cup of tea, but I've seen him post a vid of him racing a Cobra Mustang. The Neon runs 11.90's-low 12's.

I can't believe I missed Cruisin the Coast this year! The weather was BEAUTIFUL! I was helping my parents by hauling some hay for them in my truck:(

Come on up here and I'll help you load up the car so you can take it back to Houma and start working on it.

I can even mooch a farm trailer to haul it with!

Or, you can donate it to me and I'll have a start on my Buick collection.

Thanks for the offer. Don't worry though, the car will probably never leave the family:)
