New guy in town

    Hi everybody I just found out about this site and I just had to sign in. Too much god infos going around not to participate.

    I'm the proud owner of a 71 GS, still stock but hey gimme a chance only had it for 1 year.


    I'll go right away with an easy question:

    Any of you guys know what the Horsepower rating of the 71 350 at the crank is like ?

    275 Hp is correct...they lowered compression that year from the previous year....still buildable though. Welcome to the board :beer :TU:

    In '71 the HP was 260 at the fly.

    The newer hp ratings went into effect for the 1972 American cars.

    I once looked up a lot of 1971 vs. 1972 ratings for otherwise similar engines, and the reduction was about 23-25 percent.

    So, an engine rated at 260 in 1971 would be about 198 hp in 1972 (and 2003) ratings.

    Don't feel bad - my car was rated at 260hp in 1966.

    Well that jsut mean i'll have to work a bit harder to get my 400hp deam engine.
