    Hi everyone.
I recently bought my first classic american car,
    A 1969 buick electra convertible.

The former owner didnt know much about the car i found out.
I have so far been identifying engine, transmission, rear end and carburetor just to know what i actually got.
Rear end is a stock 2,78
    Transmission is th400 from 1969.
    But the engine is a 455 from 1970. SF(1231738)
    The heads is also 1970 ( A7 - 1231786)
There are a few different horsepower rateings for the 1970 455, wich one of them could mine be?

Also i need some parts, is this the correct topic or should i make a new one.
I need door hinge driver side and a repair kit for passenger side.
I also need new rollers for window guides and new seals/rubber for the bottum of the window.

    Kind regards

Max Damage I'm working on it!

Welcome! With regards to the horsepower your car makes the answer is plenty. Specifics are not possible as the factory rating was questionable to begin with. We know someone messed with it. so it will be a question mark unless you test it.

With regard to parts, there is a section called "parts wanted" that's probably your best bet.

Congrats! and how about some photos?

I agree plenty, no problem spinning tires.
Its more like a fun fact when people ask about it.

    Welcome, Emil.

Good looking Electra! I got brought home in a big Buick (71 Centurion) after I was born and I remember a lot of road trips in that car so I will forever be fond of the larger Buicks. Best of luck with your search for parts. I second Max's suggestion, creating a post in the "parts wanted" sub-forum will be your best bet. You came to the right place. There are a lot of friendly and very knowledgeable people here that are willing to help. I am more of the former than the latter...

Just going by factory #'s for 1970, 350 hp for your engine.

Welcome from Georgia! I agree; stock ‘70 455 was 350 hp and, more importantly, made 510 lb/ft of torque at 2900 rpm. That’s a great looking car by the way!

Im only 3 weeks in my buick journey so i havent been much out kickin tires yet and havent met any buick fellows.

If roadmaster.dk was a shopping site there might be a good chance it was bought by another danish site, henrikusa.dk have bought most if not all other danish sites related to american cars.

    TrunkMonkey Totally bananas

I am gonna step in it with both feet.

While it is easy for other people to spend your time and money in your pursuit of your dream, so e of the folks should be given attention and consideration to what they say ...

For hood and door hinges, Willie is the man...

    https://www.hoodhingerepair.com/contact/

Might take a little time, but you won't be sorry.

Contact him, talk to him and tell him everything you know.

You might need to source some of the parts for him, but in the end, the hinges will work and last many trouble free years.

Second, post what you need for understanding what you have, what you need to "fix" or replace.

And do not hold back on what you don't know, rather than trying to present tar you know more than you do.

It is not that people won't help you if you have little background or understanding of older cars, but if people know where you are, knowledge, ability and attitude, as well as resources, tools and such. Folks are more readily available and able to help.

A wealth of knowledge is here and ready, but folks need to know how to respond. :)

Hmm. Looks to be a little conflict there with the SF 455 as far as compression in their literature.
Wonder what rpm that was measured at. Compared to the SS engine? I do have an SF engine in my stash. From a Riv. No noticeable difference with anything.

Thanks thats very kind of you.
I have looked at the danish buick club but havent contacted them yet, i have been very busy with kids and my work lately.

I belive i have a good understandig of what i have, what i need and what can be fixed.
But how to get what i need to replace or repair is were im on deep water.
Driver side door hinge is completly worn out, but passenger side isnt that worn.
I have to remove the front end not only to replace/repair the hinges but fix some rust too.
Thats why i want to repair the other hinge while the car is disasembled.

    Regarding wheatherstriping/window rubber.
I have the window rubbers on my car but theres not much left of it, indside of right quarter is completly gone.
Its probably the same used on many other cars, but i dont know if that is correct i dont know which cars and i dont know where to get them.
On my car they are Pop riveted on, i assume thats the way i have to mount new ones to.

Is that what you were trying to make me tell you

Btw i greatly appreciate your comment, i try to be a little humble and not use "i know" and the like to much because i obviosly dont know alot about american cars, but i do know many basic's of old cars.

    Kind regards
    Emil
