After literally waiting months for Baer to crank out another tun of their new SS4+ front calipers, I finally have gotten to work getting them on the car. I must say that so far the wait has been worth it. We will see what happens the first drive though! The kit comes with cross-drilled and vented 2-piece rotors, beautiful 4-piston calipers that are DOT compliant and sealed, pads, new billet hubs with Timken bearings packed with Redline grease, all the necessary brackets to allow you to use STOCK spindles, stainless braided lines from the frame to the caliper, hardware, etc. Everything comes packed very nicely, and each part looks awesome. The great thing about this kit is that it uses sealed calipers, allows the use of 15" rims, and uses the stock spindles. The awesome finish of the parts certainly sweetens the deal. I will throw some pics up as I go. If you are looking for a disc setup that is a little more sporty than the stock type, but you want to run 15" wheels or don't want giant brakes that you can't drive in the rain, then this is right up your alley.

Cool. Would love to see it installed and all the in-progress pics. I hope it really does work with the 15" Buick wheels.

Not sure about the Buick wheels, but it appears to fit the old American Racing steelies I have. The template fits, and I will know if it fits for sure today!

Well, I have encountered snag #1 (literally). Even though the template looked like it had good clearance all around the wheel, after actually bolting everything up, I noticed that there is one little high spot near the center of the wheel that brushes the caliper or so lightly. Baer says you need a minimum of 0.1" of clearance, and you certainly don't want to be touching. As much as I really don't like wheel spacers, I went down to AutoZone and picked up the thinnest one I could find. The wheel clear with no issues now. Eventually I want some 15" aluminum Rallys or something like a Torque Thrust. I am nut sure how the steel Rallys are shaped, but mine dip in near just outside of the lug holes, and that it what is hitting. It is only one spot too, so the wheel is probably slightly out of whack, which an aluminum wheel should have. There is plenty of room around the rim for the caliper. If you have any questions about fitment you can download the fit templates of their website to get an idea of fit. Here is the first round of pictures.

It's plus is that you can use your old drum spindles. got to be a bit pricy compared to a stock set up but its a real nice looking set up:TU:

It was 900+, I don't remember the exact number, so yes it was definitely more than a bare bones stock setup. Then again, you are getting high performance stuff that is on par with their race equipment, just in a more compact package. The hardware supplied is very very nice machined billet aluminum for the money spent. The other cool thing is that is accepts pads from the auto parts store or high performance ones, so you can pick your poison/price point.

I helped install a set of wildwood disk brake system on a '67 mustang. installed & fit like a glove. however, we had to fabricate new brake lines from the master cylinder for each caliper.

Were the old ones rusted out?

my friend installed a new set of "Eleanor" rims, 17" (?), front and rear and required much better braking that the original front drums. as for the brake lines the originals would not work for this application.

    Hi,
I have the SS4+ front rotor and spindle kit installed on a 1980 Regal 455 that I am putting together. For moving the car around, I have the 14x6 rally's on and the back of the rim just clears the caliper, by a very, very small amount. Doesn't hit, but real close. What surprised me was the 14" rim clears the caliper as well. I am installing American Torq Thrust D's on the front of the car, have 15x6 w/ 3.5 backspace, clears all really well. Can send pic's if you want.

Took pictures of both the 14x6 Buick Rally and the 15x6 Torq Thrust from front and back. Forgot that I used a 1/4 spacer on the Buick wheels. Also on my rotors, the studs are 12mm not 1/2". Wondering if yours were the same?

Sean, were you getting the brakes or the spindles with brakes? My set is the G body spindle at stock height and the Baer SS4+ mounted. Everything went on very easy. Had a slight leak problem with the pass. side banjo bolt on the brake line leaking. Had to tighten it quite a bit more than the driver's side. The washers did not have any burrs, bends or nicks that I could see. Drivers side, just had to snug for it to seal.

I like the new wheels! My studs are stock size which is 7/16 if I remember correctly.

Thanks for the comment. Your project will turn out great I am sure. When I bought these, I thought they were 1/2" lugs, but the 12mm are ok too. You're correct, 7/16" is a stock GM lug size.

I originally wanted to have 15x6 and 15x8 Buick Rally's with the redlines, but the set I got were out a lot on roundness and front/back wobble when mounted on a lug-centric wheel balance machine. Returned them and went with the Americans, I like them too.
