New member (and 'newer' Buick owner) here, and damn thankful to have found this Buick forum. I'm sure it will help me learn a TON of new things during my years of upcoming ownership. I will peruse the forums and will ask questions if I cannot find the answers I need.

I purchased a 1970 Buick GS455 back in April of this year, and absolutely love it. Long story short, I was saving up for 'something' for over 4 years... with an 'approved plan' (by the wife) to be able to buy that 'something' in Spring of 2023, just before my 50th birthday. Well, my wish came true. I found this absolute beauty in Indy in April, drove down to see her... and fell in love. She sounds as mean as she looks, runs terrific and have been enjoying it for a few months now. 77K original miles, original body panels, Protect-o-plate, Schott wheels, 3" Quiet-Flow SS exhaust... was very nicely restored, incredible paint job and very-well maintained over the years. The only thing it 'needed' was an alternator. Other than that, a things here and there to make her "mine"... and just enjoying it. Love the rumble sitting at a stop light, gives me chills just thinking about it!

Anyways, I thank you all in advance for your patience in helping me learn different things regarding owning a classic car. My Dad passed when I was 17, taking away the possibility of gaining the knowledge that he had about cars. This is also a tribute to him, and I'm sure he's looking down smiling knowing he'd love it as much as I do.

Hello Gregg, my story is very similar to yours.
I bought my 1970 GS 455 in May of 2021 after years of looking for one.

I'm a lot older than you and had to wait a long time because my job career took me overseas a lot and I had to focus on family too.

I haven't wrench on a muscle car since 1976. So, technology has passed me by a long time ago.
My car was advertised as "Turn Key" ready to drive and enjoy but that didn't turn out to be the case.

That said, I've had a lot of support on this forum, everybody had been great to help me solve the engine problems I've experienced.

I've also learned what the term, Chinese Junk parts is. Remember I said, 1976, that's 47 years ago, there were no foreign aftermarket auto parts builders for classic cars back than.
I have already learned the hard way about Chinese junk. Tried to find a replacement QJet carburetor and the shop I have working on my Buick purchased a Chinese rebuilt carburetor, BAD right out of the box, had to send it back and I bought a Holley. I've used Holley's forever and had great reliability from them.

Just a warning to be careful what you buy aftermarket parts.
O's almost forgot, I found out that there is a lot of talented folks on this forum that can also rebuild carburetors and almost everything on our Buicks. If I had know that, I would have had my QJet rebuilt by them.

Your photos of your Buick didn't show up, try to send again, love to see your ride.

Enjoy your Buick for many years to come.:D

Thank you kindly, and that's a beauty of a GS. Wow. Love the white top on the blue...

P.S. I can (obviously) see your car... the pic showed up. I noticed you can attach as a thumbnail or insert as a full photo. Perhaps browser choice may affect the ability to attach and/or show up..

I finally got a look at your 70 GS. I love the Burgandy exterior color.

Someone took great care of your car. You should have many years of enjoyment out of it.

Be prepared, "what" kind of car is "that"? I get this all the time.:D
