I just purchased a 1970 GS455 Conv and need to start gathering any and all documentation for it. I've been to the Sloan museum site, and I see that I can get a VIN # report and a wholesale Car order form - are both of them helpful? Is there anything else available from Sloan that I should be requesting? Also, I need to get any and all manuals (owners, service, etc). Which ones should I have, which ones should I get originals vs. reproductions, where to look? Lots of odd manuals at eBay - I'm not sure which ones are worth the money. I found the site to decode the VIN, so I've got a little start on building a history. BTW - I can give the VIN here if it's helpful (just unsure if publicly posting the VIN is wise?) Any help greatly appreciated! Ann
I think.... The assembly manual is nice to have, along with the Service Chassis Man. Nice car Annie!:TU:
...and the Fisher Body Manual With these three manuals, you should (theoretically) be able to take your car apart and put it back together (correctly). You can also purchase them on CD if you wish. Please post the selling dealership information when you get the Sloan VIN report - thanks! Sloan needs your VIN, we don't. According the the VIN listed on EBAY, you have a 1970 GS455 convertible built at Leeds MO. Sloan can provide the original options. And, according to the description you provided, you paid a fair price for the car. You just can't go to the dealership to purchase one anymore...
Thanks, Marco - and yes, indeed, that is the car I have purchased. I'll get the Sloan reports ordered and start accumulating the manuals. All the different manuals are starting to make sense now! Thanks!
