The local glass shops that I used to use for windshield installs on our "vintage"vehicles have gone out of business. Not out of the glass business itself but out of the business of working on olde cars. Seems that the fellows who used to do this work have retired (or worse) and the current crop of window "techs"do not know how to do the work. I need to replace a windshield on a car that has a rubber gasket around the windshield opening with aluminum bright trim imbedded in the gasket . Hint: this model car was the automotive star of a TV series that the "second" James Bond appeared in before he graduated to 007. Hope to find someone in the Raleigh/Durham/Greensboro area. Thanks!
That type of gasket is similar to the ones on some if not most of the '73-'87 Chevy trucks windshields. Those employ a rubber black or chromed insert on the gasket. The installers may be scared to damage your chromed or stainless piece. You may try posting on the Carolinas Chapter of the BCA forum over at the AACA site. Someone there may know of a competent shop around.
