I want to put the blue certification label on the driver's side door of my '72 Skylark 2 door sedan. Problem is that I do not have the original label and I have lost/misplaced both copies of my 1972 Buick assembly manual so I don't know what the weight information should be.

Could someone please look up the weight information for a 1972 Skylark 2-door sedan VIN 4D27J so I can put the right info on the tag?

Here is an example of a '72 door sticker from a GS 455 that has the weights on it.

Two door post with 350-4V? No '72 info. but '71 might help out a bit.
1706 lbs front & 1584 lbs rear = total of 3290 lbs. for the base car.
    Add the following:
    206 F & 29 R = 235 total for 350 V8.
    12F & 4R = 16 for Auto..
Let me know waht else you have & I can give you the AMA specs on most of the various options. i.e radio: AM=7lbs., FM=8lbs., power brakes =10lbs..

    thanks for the reply.

The car is a 1972 2-door sedan, and was originally equiped with 350-4, automatic trans, PS, P-drum brakes, A/C, AM radio, plus other options that would not impact weight rating (chrome road wheels, side moldings, bright trim on the post, optional cloth interior, etc). It was a well optioned car for a sedan and was originally Sunburst Yellow. I have the window sticker, bill of sell, POP, and glovebox punch card. The car still has less than 35k miles but is not exactly original anymore.

I guess the weight info really doesn't have to be exactly correct since no one will really see it but I just thought that if I was going to add the label I might as well make it have the correct info.

I still can't believe I have lost both of my 1972 assembly manuals. I remember seeing the info in there....

BTW Steve somewhere on this board I saw pictures you posted of the interior of your car and I love the way it looked!!

    Gary,
Thanks for the kind words on my interior. Originally a bench seat car in excellent condition. I redyed/repainted most of the interior surfaces. New seat covers & carpet.
    Back to yours:
    AC: Add 114F & -2.0R =112 lbs..
Power steering: Add 29 lbs. front.

    Thanks again guys.

However after looking at some photos of original door labels it appears that the info listed on the factory labels is GVW and not curb or actual weights. So I will need to get the GVW info from the assembly manual which lists GVWs by model/body style. Probably time for me to give up on finding my assembly manuals and just buy another one.

That's what I was looking for.

    The door label I attached above is for a GS 455 and it had GVW 2630 F & 2640 R, 5270 total.

    Thanks again guys

Hmm... how come those numbers don't match the chart from the assembly manual? Revision maybe?

The closest we get is an A/C car - 2625/2643 (5268 total)

...or maybe the 2lbs is for CA emissions
