I have a mint backing plate and emblem. I only need the spring. I'd take a spring from someones old original if it's not too worn out. I called all over God's great earth and the emblem assembly is on national back order. Poston has the emblem and backing plates separately, Year one has zilch.... So I figured the buick community may be able to help me out. :beer
Im sure Cars has them....I also see them on Ebay all the time. I had asked cars a few years ago If I could get just the spring and they said they purchase the complete assy. and couldn't help. Ken....when I did buy mine from Cars, I went through about 15 of them he had on hand (at the GSCA Nats). There was a W I D E variation of the quality of the pieces even though they were brand new. Mainly, it was what I'll call "flashing" around the edges not being crisp I wouldn't have been happy receiving just any one of the 15....in fact I wasn't 100% satisfied but I bought the best of the batch. Im not slamming Cars in any way as Im sure they just buy them from the manufacturer. Hope this helps.
Hmmmm. Ok, well I guess I can try Cars for the spring. Alan, I understand what you are saying about the quality. The backing plate Poston had looked like it was painted with Testor's silver model paint. I honestly can't believe the quality control of these things. Believe me, Idon't think you'd have been satisfied with this piece. I've seen better chrome on childrens toys. I can't for the life of me believe that nobody on this board has a junk decklid emblem that they don't want with a donor spring. I'll try Cars, but I was hoping I could exclude the possibility of yet another screwed up order. They'll probably send me a coil spring for a 73 Electra. :error:
Checked with CARS. Talked to Kevin. Nice guy it seems. Anyway, they DONT have the spring only. They will only sell the whole $81 assembly. (which is actually what I figured he'd say) So, once again, anyone have a used assembly I can buy for the donor spring?

All I need is the spring. Obviously I can't use the emblem and backing plate. I don't need the Grille emblem either. I have two. $10.00 plus USPS Does the spring have any "spring" left?
