Does anybody have a picture of the Drum setup. I'm having issues w/ the Parking brake bracket. Thanks
What exactly are you looking for? Obviously a picture, but are you trying to figure out where the parking brake lever mounts? If so, it mounts to the inside of the rear brake shoe. I'll see if I have anything available for a picture, but I'd like to know what it is you are looking for specifically. -Josh
THanks Bruce, Here's the picture again w/ an arrow pointing to it. My issue is: My parking brake bracket broke, so i bought another one for a GM 9 1/2" drum brake. Right now i'm comparing it to the other side that didnt break and it has an ugly spring on that side where i put the arrow. Is that suppose to be there? I dont see it on the picture you posted here, but i've seen it on others. Right now i have everything put back w/ out that extra ugly spring on the parking brake bracket and the bracket fits every loose where in the other side its very tight.
If the one you talking about it is oval shaped somewhat and it should be there, this pic is photo of the left side, which side you working on,the little spring is in the pic if you can get it large enough to see it.....It should be there
I'm working on the rear drivers side. I dont see the spring on the pic even though the pic size is pretty good. I bought a kit w/ the all springs but non of them fit in there. Is the spring suppose to go on both teeth on the brake bracket or just one?
If you look real close where you put the arrow you can see three lines there and those are the spring,Its appears only the left side has the spring. If you do not get it figured out tommorrow I can post a pic of the actual spring so you can see what it looks like.......Bruce
Bruce, Where did you get that image from? What book? I still dont think i have that spring in the kit i bought
Its from an original 65 Skylark Chassis Service manual Marvin.I know they go in there,I just did the rear brakes on my 65 Sport Wagon and it uses em too. There is a chance they may not come in the spring kit as sometimes all this stuff is not included in them and more likely they may not be a kit that may be used for front and rear applications both so hence the missing ones for the e brake part.......Let me know how it comes out for you.....Bruce Oh I should have the springs used if you cannot find anything local and you can have em for free.......
Thanks for the offer Bruce. Or if you got a picture of that spring that would be sufficient as well. Because like i said the one on the other side, from what i can see it doesnt look in that good of a shape either. It just doesnt look like it belongs there...but it is over over 40yrs old too so who knows. I'll let you know what happens...thanks!
Ok i haven't had any luck finding that spring i need. I'm no Wiz, but i figure i can do with out it. All its going to happened is that my parking break wont work right?
I can send a pic if I get one dug out of my junk,if you need any let me know if anything I have a parts car I could pull a couple from, they would be free just ask.......Bruce
Thanks Bruce! If you got that 1 spring that holds the parking brake bracket, i'll take it! Let me know. thanks,
