Any recommendations on who sells Muncie parts? I could easily Google it for purchase but rather give someone on the board my business. I need the speedo adapter that inserts into the tailshaft held in place by a bolt. The speedo cable screws into this adapter. Had my M20 rebuilt and found it missing. I would prefer a new one, not used. Thanks, Mike Iggycat NJ
They are actually made by Stewart Warner Mike. You can find them NOS pretty easily on Ebay. But they come in all types of ratios. Finding one in the right raio might prove a little difficult. To the best of my knowledge, they are not available new and no one is reproing it.
IF it's the same as a BW T-10, Rockauto and GM dealers have it. I'll have to look up the pn. Also used on 4 spd automatics.
We're talking about this correct? If you notice, this particular one is .8 to 1. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Stewart-Warner-Speedometer-Gear-Adapter-Chevy-GMC-GM_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem1e58443634QQitemZ130329884212QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories
Jason - didn't realize this was a pain and have no idea what the gearing should be.. I'll look on e-bay and see what's offered. Just had the tranny rebuilt with brand new guts and know the size gear set installed. I'll also speak with the trans rebuild guy and see what gives. Wkillgs - Appreciate your looking this up. Mike
Jason, The tailshaft has a hole this adapter fits into and a small bolt holds it in place. The only portion of this adapter that sticks out of the side of the case is the threads for spinning the speedo cable on. There is no box attached to it like your ebay picture. This adapter rides on an internal gear in the tailshaft. Mike
I have an NOS one. If you are interested send me an email and I'll send you a picture and price. If you don't want the NOS one, I really believe any (GM) standard transmission and 350 turbo automatics will work, maybe more. Mike
I recently bought a car with an m20 and not knowing much of them i have been getting the parts i needed through a gm dealer and learning as i go and ragtops is correct as well from what i found reasearching things.
aah...my mistake. Sorry Mike. When you said "adapter" I immediately thought of the Stewart Warner reduction adapters as almost all Muncies seem to have one.
I found a pic on Amazon.com: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0..._m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=09DV2VCBSE9DH2PMDJAC Pn is 345215. Avail from GM dealers, Rockauto, GM Parts Direct, etc. Price varies. There is also a retainer to hold it in place, pn 3708148: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss?url=search-alias=automotive&field-keywords=3708148&x=0&y=0 Also used on Chev TH350's
Hey guys - thank you for your help on this. Walt, I decided to go in your direction and order this stuff from Amazon. I need the retainer and bolt so it makes perfect sense. :TU: Mike Iggycat NJ
