my 68 gs has developed a real bad squeak from above the windshield at the header seal, occurs when driving with the top up, it will go away if the pass side clamp is released slightly.I have been driving this car for 2 years with the new top and header seal and this just came on a few weeks ago. I tightened the pass clamp 1 turn and it made no difference, any ideas
    thanks,Bryan

Hey Brian, you won't believe all the squeaks and rattles mine has, just turn the radio up! WD40 and duct tape?
try tighting the driver side about the same amount, gasket is probably compressing some:3gears: ?

Put a piece of paper towel between the header seal rubber and the top of the windshield and drive the car a bit to see if the squeek changes. If it does it is caused by the seal rubbing against the top of the windshield. If the sound doesn't change it is probably caused by the linkage pivot points needing some lube. If it is just the seal rubbing try some silicone spray as a lube. Also see if the trim pieces are firmly seated on the windshield frame.

Not a convertible owner but just checked the Fisher Body Service Manual.
On an annual basis apply a limited amount of low temp. lubricant( a good grade machine oil or equal) to all friction surfaces.
Friction surfaces should include all washers, bushings & other contact surfaces.
To prevent soiling trim, wipe off excessive lubricant.

Would this apply to your noise?

Might be as others suggested...lubricate seal or mechanism. Certainly won't hurt to do. My best guess is that header seal has compressed and top is moving more at header. With no roof panel for support, vert cowl and doors move a lot. If lube doesn't fix, tighten latches...
