I am putting a Buick 71 350 in a 79 Skyhawk with a 4 spd saginaw. I have a 350 1970 flywheel, Buick orginal. Question: What should I use for clutch? use factory 3.8 in now to 350 flywheel? or buy new set 10.5? 11.0? Spline in the saginaw 79 10count? Help want all parts ready so when pull out can put back with out waiting for parts, Please give any detailed parts and info you can give, I am use to automatics and torque converter pull. This is my first flexplate off a 350/455 to a manual fit flywheel. Please help, and if any one has good parts forsale on a budget , this would be helpful. I am not making to be a super hot rod, but rather a car that Buick should have made to begin with and restore as if given a 350 at factory. thanks email is c_geske@earthlink.net

I'd just get a new clutch, they aren't that exspensive. Plus it would beat having to pull the trans to replace it in the near future. Just make sure you get the right sized clutch. If it measures ~12.5" between 2 mounting holes then it is an 11" clutch, if less, then it it a 10.5 " clutch. While your at it you might as well get new motor and trans mounts, Autozone has the motor mounts for 5.89 a piece and the trans mount should be about the same. After that you should be good to go.:bglasses:

What type of bellhousing are you planning to use??I have a cable type from one of the late 70's early 80 Skyhawks with the funky fork.I thought they all used the cable instead of the linkage in those years.

Didn't Skyhawks mostly come out with V6's. Are you using the bellhousing from a Skyhawk? Did you get a smallblock bellhousing to use in your application? I don't believe the Skyhawk bellhousing will bolt up to the 350. I could be wrong.

the monzas could be ordered with a v8 and the monza & the skyhawk are the same body base.

If you re-read...I had to with all the confusing questions!!! He did say he's gonna put a Buick 350 in soooo...the Buick V6 bellhousing will work. As it was mentioned, H-bombs used the pull style cable clutch fork so try to avoid heavy pedal pressure plates. I'm hoping it'll be able to house a bigger clutch. Stoopid us, we used the oem sized 9.xx" clutch behind the 350 hp 327 and you know already know!!!

So the factory clutch will work on at 70-72 350 flywheel, bolt on? Thought I would have to use a 10.5 clutch on the flywheel,as all I have read. I would like to keep stock clutch to save money. In doing so just info needed on 350 flywheel to 9.xx flywheel? Went out yesterday car would not stay running except add gass to carb. Think electric fuel pump on 231 in tank is bad. Would the mech fuel pump go on motor from a regal 231? Is there a lobe on the cam with a fuelcap cover on block? This is only temp till I get the 350 in. thanks
