I was up at my favorite junk yard today and spotted two '63 full size Buicks with timing chain covers intact. The cars are otherwise stripped of useful parts. Someone had attemted to remove one of the covers, broke off the bolts and gave up. The other one is untouched. I've heard these covers are hard to come by, so I asked how much and he said $40 if I remove it. He doesn't want to mess with it at all. I thought I'd give it a try sometime. The Buick manual skims over removing the cover too fast for me, and not nearly enough pictures for me, since I can't read. I'm looking for step by step "instructions for dummies", and those real life pictures are always worth gold too. I'm wondering if it's even worth the trouble, but I would like to have a spare cover. I figured if I didn't know how to take it off correctly, I'd end up breaking it just when I was nearly finished.
