Too much oil, wrong dipstick and PCV valve installed improppa'. Blow-by out of the breather tho? That should clear up after a good run with 5 quarts of oil. Larry old pal, you cant insult my integrity; I don't have any LOL. EPA did away with "road draft pipes" at the end of '64. Not only for vapor, but to help control errant oil on the roadways washing into the water shed... we're all doomed! Bill

With no crank case ventilation, lots of pressure buildup, comes out the breather. Too much oil causes the crank to churn it up, whipping it up on to the cylinder walls, so much so, that the rings can't control it. Oil gets in the combustion chamber, gets burned, causes detonation. No wonder it is smoking.

Will see if I can find a hose for the PCV today after work.
I really hope I do not have to replace the piston rings and all that stuff.

    Wow!
Reading this almost makes me want to replace my road draft tube with a PCV system.
    What's next? Unleaded gasoline ?

Actually James, I'm sure you can remember when an under hood job meant being greasy up to your elbows! Thatll also correct the old blow by smell when youre sitting at a stop lite. Underside of car will stay cleaner etc. etc. Even on my boat theres no PVC, just CCV where the valve cover hoses merely draft into the flame arresters; theres even a draft line for a fuel pump leak just in case! ws

Alright guys. I owe you my thanks
I found a hose at work that fit the PCV port. It is pretty and blue and I think it is made for air compressors mainly, but it will do for now. No more smoking from the breather.
There is a cruising event near me on saturday that Im planning to attend. Will be awesome. Lots of beer and old american cars. I'll let the missus drive. :Brow:

Only problem I got now, before I can get it on the road is that the turn-signal suddenly stopped working.
When you signal left, it shines a constant light instead of flashes, and when you signal right nothing happens.
It was working last week. This damn car, lol.
Probably the relay or a bulb. Will try to fix this on my day off this thursday.. Or maybe i'll just go on the event anyways, I can wave in the direction we are turning right lol.

Other stuff that I need to fix in the future is a new intake gasket, it is leaking.
I gotta get me a digital speedometer and coolant temp gauge.
Get the fan-blower working properly, works from time to time now.
See if I can stop the tiny leak at the steering gear thing.
Investigate the boiling sound coming from the heater core when you turn the car off, the radiator temp seems fine so I guess it is some kind of pressure in the core.
New spark-plugs and generator wouldn't hurt, I think.
A re-paint would not hurt either.

You guys know where exhaust fumes might get sucked into the cabin? I can smell it, it causes itching in my throat.
Could not find any other leak than the one at the intake gasket so I guess that is where it is coming from. But how does it get into the vehicle?

Got tailpipes to the rear bumper? Holes in the trunk floor can cause the "station wagon: effect, especially with a window open. If not, somewhere up front getting sucked into the heater / ac fan box. ws

Im guessing it's somewhere in the front. I just put some exhaust repair paste at the leak. Will see if it helps when I drive home from work.

I thought the car ran like crap today. Wtf, it was fine when I drove it home from the garage. It is like it's not running on all spark plugs. All I did was put on the PCV hose.
Might have to get new sparkplugs sooner than I thought..
