hey folks I'm trying to find out if my 70' GS 350 was rebuilt to specs or was this a generic rebuild . I don't have the numbers in front of me. Are there more than one set of casting #'s ? Thanks, Steve
1233472 is the only # listed by Gessler with 1240142 and 1240143 being service replacements. this concurs with my 'SP' motor (just pulled both valve covers, looks like they may have never been off before, i have two 1233472's). my intake is 1231924. it's normally said that all the 350 heads are the same and that CR was changed with the piston dish. i have no idea.
Heads Thanks Bob, I wasn't sure so I figuered I'd check it out here. I think this engine is a little "Dicey" The cyl. walls are bluish purple , 2" of the head gasket between 3-5 was non-existant It would cost more to do it back up but it's already been bored .040" . I can find something down the road . Ideally a good running engine so I can get some enjoyment out of the Lark .It was a bad deal I let happen to myself and it's turned into a frame-off , down to the metal-repaint and complete interior . It's deffinently not going to be original when it's finished :Brow: Thanks for sharing the #'s . Steve
