Hi again, would someone know what the fram oil filter number for '70 buick 455 is. I am trying to source an oil filter for the car and I am not sure if PH -25 is for this car. Any help would be great. Thanks

Stay away from Fram. I've never heard anything good about them. Get an AC Delco. I believe it's a PH-24.

    Don't use Fram oil filters.
    They are to restrictive.

i like a wix filter myself. i have heard of low quality "counterfeit" ac-delco filters causing problems.

Thanks guys for the tip. I went to the fram site and was able to locate the filter which is a ph25, I dont know why I couldent find the number earlier. That being said I will try to source a better type of filter as everyone has recommended. A side note, this weekend I am going to replace the intake (valley pan) gasket and the valve cover gasket to. I will then repaint those items with the duplicolor red. I just got the rad back the other day and if there is time, I will rebuild the carb and then start with the new ignition system, belts and hoses etc. Hopefully I will be able to have the car running in the next week or two. Long term storage for any car leeds to alot of work in the end.

    Thanks

    the AC number is PF24,
I would try a K&N oil filter too, they're very good

i believe the fram ph11 doesnt have the backflow valve , where you dont want cause the filter is ay such an angle , it will drain back into the pan when ya shut the motor off . i too agree ,fram is JUNK . i prefer a/c , baldwin , wix , or puralator

PH11 has the valve and flows fine. I use them on the four big blocks that I currently abuse.

Get either a mobil 1 or a k&n filter, they're the two best filters in every oil study I've ever read, about $10-15 too, super cheap insurance.

The discontinued "Ultraguard Gold" AC Delco series filters are also excellent (black in color, synthetic material) -- made by Champion Labs (K&N / Mobil 1)....

I have 2 dozen of the UPF-24 filters for personal use, but I'll try and get more if there anyone is interested. - Let me know

This is all I needed to hear to get me to pass judgement on Fram (Allied Signal). The quote below comes from this site.

i currently use wix oil filters for my 72 gs 350 and am about to do the same in my 98 gs & 99 saturn.
have been using fram ph25 in the car for 2 years. had a few ac delco pf24 that i was using before then. then could not buy locally anymore. three years ago, i purchased about 8 of the ph25 filters from a dept. store that was about to close. the filters had to be, at that time, on the shelf 5 years. old stock and made in canada. when the fram filters were made in canada (stratford & chatham ontario) they were quality products.

Nothing but AC pf-24 I say! Some filters that are over-restrictive are no good as well.

I won't use AC anymore after some issues I had.
    Link.
I found it odd that the filter made in Mexico for AC Delco are in my opinion a better part.
I have been using NAPA Gold filters since. I believe they are made by Wix.

Wix is a high quality filter. I use them often, but have been using K&N on my GS for a few years now. No problems.
