John I see you are making progress on your car. This is the latest with mine. I still need the new top, interior, trim and dash installed. I have new wiring harnesses for the car too. I dropped the drive shaft off tonite to get it shorten 1 3/4" and balanced. I need to install the steering column but I am waiting for a part to complete the rebuild. Here is a picture of the engine now. I may change to a SPX if it fits in the future.

    Hi Ed,

Great looking engine! I am glad to see you are progressing. I am also getting going. I should be able to get it fired up this weekend. I will still have a lot of bugs to work out I am sure. Keep the info coming.

    Regards, John.

Ed, if you don't mind my asking, what did your heads flow? I'm putting together a real similiar combo to your w/ ported stage ones, and I would like to compare your HP/Torque results to what I can expect.
    Thanks,
    Jon

Like this? :kodak: I took it 10-minutes ago. It's actually a KB Wildcat, not an SPX.

Excuse the wiring and plumbing, I'm slowly transitioning to efi after a top-end rebuild and cam-swap. I put the carb back on to sort everything out and break in the cam before starting on the EFI. So everything's "temporary" till all the wires are in their final place.

It's tight (see the rub marks on the bottom of the hood?) But wouldn't be so bad without the 1/2" nitrous plate under the carb.

Ed, do you have A/C? If you don't, I'll make you a deal on the aircleaner and duct that tie into the cowl..I also added A/C and can't use it any more.

Adam, That is cool! How about you keep the carb and use the injection system for Nitrous system!!!!!!!!!!!:3gears:

Tell me more about the air cleaner set up as I do not have A/C!

The ducting fits in the factory cut-out for the A/C system fresh-air. Some cars, depending on production date, region, or something had the cut-outs done with tin covers screwed over them; others didn't.

Here is a picture of the system installed. The fiberglass ducting is a little rough, but there is plenty of meat there for some DA work with 60 or 80-grit to finish it up nicer. The air-cleaner was fabricated with a factory early 70's unit and a 396-375 hp aircleaner base. The bad news is it will only fit a Q-Jet or Holley, and not a TQ.

Yeah, a fogger in those holes might be interesting, or the new NOS NOSzles that go between the injector and the manifold. I already have the F.A.S.T. computer (thanks Kerry) so I'm sort-of married to going EFI. With the EFI it will be easy to go E85 and a procharger or turbo :Brow: for at least one pass before I drive over the crank...
