I had to take the 17's and 18's off of my car as a customer wanted to buy them from me. I needed to make a decision quick as to what wheel and tire combo I wanted to go with. The 17's / 18's were cool, but I thought "enough Bling", and decided to go with something more traditional and something that I had laying around in the shop. I fabb'ed up some adaptors and put my Dog Dish caps on a set of Weld wheels. Tell me what you think. Like u'm? or not?
Steve, that looks way cool. :beer I think your car looks absolutely kick butt!!! It's nice to see seomthing different.
Dog Dish Thanks guys, I thought they looked pretty trick when I mocked them up, but sometimes you can become tainted when working too close to a project. I'll take some close up shots of the "adaptors" in the next few days as time permits. Good or bad, keep the opinions coming.
That ain't no "dog"! SWEET GROOVINESS MAN!!!! Man, that looks totally cool, killer idea! :TU:
You're smarter than the original designers. It's a great a paradox: very flashy but still looks utilitarian. I also prefer blackwalls on dog dish wheels for the sleeper look too. You got it dead right.
Normally I personally Don't like the Dog Dishes on Buicks. Only cars I had with Painted rims & Small Caps were a 68 340-S Barracuda, and a 68 SS 396. (SS had caps pulled the night It came home from the Dealer) The Look You have is more along the lines of the Chrome Reverse with Baby Moons, Era Correct, but with some Flash. I LIKE IT. :TU: JR
incidentally, if 100% praise isn't enough and you decide to get rid of them, put me in line first. just thought I'd throw that in before someone else did. The backs look very wide. Is that a standard or narrowed back axle?
I'll be the DA :bglasses: .I think that the stance of your car is as killer as they come, that's how I like a car set up if I could get away with it :TU: .I would not change a thing but would consider painting the vertical flange area of the wheel with some satin or semi gloss black for contrast. What I would like to know is, how did you get the dishes up there to begin with? :Brow: .
Very nice :TU: I like your attention to the little details. yes, lets see a straight on close up. thanks
wheels "The backs look very wide. Is that a standard or narrowed back axle?" The rear axle is a standard width 12 bolt from a Monty. The rims are 8" with 4 1/2" B.S. (I think??, can't remember for sure) "I would not change a thing but would consider painting the vertical flange area of the wheel with some satin or semi gloss black for contrast." I thought about painting the rims body color, but if I paint them any color, I can't use them without the caps, and I want that flexability. Thanks!!
Dog Dish Sorry it took me awhile to get some more pictures, TOO BUSY!! Here is a close up of the wheel and the adaptor with the Hub Cap off. Thanks, Steve
