It is an nos, in an unopened box, Candle 8 track player, model H7P made in Korea. No idea of production date Received it this morning from a seller in Ontario. Box contains warranty card. It works great. Been searching for a replacement unit for my original Radio Shack player that failed 5 years ago.
And you have 8-tracks that don't quit working when the metal track change spot that links the ends of the tape together comes around ? Peace WildBill
I am able to repair 8 track tapes. I have a device that was used originally to splice reel to reel tape, that I can place the ends of the tape & replace the siver tape (i have a small roll) & I can replace the foam or felt pad that the tape glide on. No instruction only warranty card & repair shop locations. There is instruction glued on the bottom of the unit and the schematic. Probably cheaper with the sticky than to produce a manual. Paid $75 + shipping. To me, worth the price. when I sold my GS, I gave the purchaser at least 50 tapes collected over the years. I did keep 15 tape.
Pretty certain I still have my quad player stashed somewhere in my basement. You're correct about the sound being awesome!
Nice find! I have an old Holiday brand one that fold together for carrying, works great! Too bad some of my tapes are showing their age.
You should have heard Riders on the Storm by Jim Morrison echo in the back and the voice out of the front, the rainstorm part came from the back 6x9 speakers I had 5 inch up front Money by Pink Floyd would go around all 4 speakers with the coins dropping It was freakin awesome I think I also had Rick Wakeman Journey To the Center of the Earth that was nuts One of the best systems I ever had and that was in 76-77 era Best music ever was produced back then.
I recall Guess Who's "Guns, Guns, Guns" circling around all four speakers. Dang it, now I gotta dig that player out, find some suitable speakers, and let 'er rip.
