So I changed the driven gear and the speedometer reads more believeable speeds. With the car up in the air, I took the opportunity to change a fuel filter for the electric fuel pump. Guess which one is the old one. I would bet it's the same filter that was installed way back when that electric pump was installed.
I would suggest getting a better filter those are as cheap as they come, Atleast a metal housing looks 10 x better, 10x more durable and they sell them at all the parts stores, I go thru them and look for what looks good back on the shelf behind the counters.
Anybody know what the correct radio is for the car? It has an aftermarket unit and eventually I'd like to put back the correct radio. Although it will be modified to have modern features. Also anybody put in a nice system in one of these? My concern is what to do about front speakers. In my Lesabre, I cut holes in the kick panels to place speakers. But I am not going to be cutting up anything in this car. I also suspect that inside the dash there is very little room for speakers much like my Lesabre.
Crutchfield has a 4" two way speakers that should work in the front. Mine had a center speaker and another one on the right side of the dash. Don't know how difficult will be to find a correct head unit. If you do find one, there are places that can update them with modern technology like for MP3 player or your phone hook up. Fernando
