Well, new to me. Its one of those rare 87 V8 Ts (they were called T-types before 87). My brother told me about it last week and told me that I need to pick it up. Info was a little short, but he did say it had decent interior which is buckets with a console. I stopped after work on Friday to look at it and the interior isnt the greatest, its not really rusty, the frame is excellent, it had a motor but there were no keys to fire it up, it has some 14" Western wheels and its a T-top car. The T-top part sold me. The bad part about it other than the no keys is that the windshield is smashed it has a really bad paintjob and since I bought it out of a junkyard it has a salvage title. Heres a few pics...

You want to put a 455 in what?

It would make a great sleeper, but with a salvage title I don't think it's worth putting too much money into. I might put it back on the road and drive it around. All it seems to really need is a windsheild. I'd run the 307 and whatever 3 speed auto they put behind it till something goes poop. I was thinking that 464 that's sleeping in my broom closet would be a great replacement motor. I have a Th-400 to go with it too.

A good friend of mine has a loaded '87 T-type. He explained to me how Buick opened up the option book so you could order anything and nearly any combination. This is a T-type car with half landau roof and the hi-po Olds 307. Its a very neat car to say the least.

Nice car Joe. I suppose the only trouble with a salvage title is insuring it or for resale. Let us know what your plans are. :TU:

307 dog, 2004r weak trans, 2.56 ratio 7 1/2 open rear. Keys are needed to unlock t-top latches. Blue leather wrap sport steering wheel gone, 15 t-type wheels and caps gone.
yank the entire drivetrain from behind the radiator(save the radiator and 307 upper hose!), and put some real power there. buick 350 drops in easy with 231 frame mounts and engine mounts. 455 is more fun though...

I'm no newbie. I know what goes fast and I know what doesn't. This car has a 3 speed tranny so no th-200-4r. 2.56 probably and probably no posi. The T-tops are not from the car and I've had them out already. I could care less about the T-type wheels, I have extras (that is if I want to use them with this hoopie). My 464 solid cam motor is looking really good for this car right now.

Today I popped the trunk from the inside (I pulled the backseat and mostly crawled through the little hole). I found a big 12" woofer in a box with an amp attatched to the side. I also found a smaller amp laying next to it. I also found a little tool box (a plastic huggies wipes container) with some hex ended screwdriver things, a regular flat screwdriver and a wood chisel inside. There was a bunch of car cleaning junk in there too. I also pulled the steering wheel and removed the lock cylinder. Got it fired up with a jump from the truck and a liberal amount of ether. The thing runs pretty good. But when I took it up to my cousin’s garage to fill up the tire it ran out of gas. I rolled it out of his driveway and on to the lane. Another little push later I was rolling across my field and it settled in front of the poopy 89 F-350 cab and chassis. The damn thing’s almost drivable.

Clean it up, fix the little things, and then wait for spring/summer with the T-Tops!! :TU:

Looks like fun, Joe. :) How do salvage titles work down there?

After I fixed it up, I would need to take it to a modified inspection station (there's one a couple miles up the road) where it would go through the typical PA safety inspection. The guy is basically telling the state that the car is in drivable condition and I'd pay him more money on top of the state inspection. I think it's a money making gimic.
