Took wensday off of work to finish it up. Broke in the cam round 9. Of coarse had the usual distributor being 180 degrees off... I don't know how I managed that... lol...
after break in it ran real funny, like it was flooding out, drove round the block, pulled like all heck, but idled real funny... stalled in teh drive, and acted like it was flooded, look down the carb, gas it dripping down there with the motor off... figured the float was stuck or wacked out from being taken off and stuff. Took the top of the carb off. float looked good, so I suspected the needle valve... held it down, and cranked the motor, gas still came into the carb, pulled out the needle, it had a nice small peice of rubber on it from when I cut a fuel hose I think. Got that back together and she ran good.

Between stop and 30, it feels faster, but nothing amazing, hit about 30-35 and it takes off like a rocket, very nice! I think thats the secondaries coming on. I'm gonna try richening up the primarys, hopefully get the bottom end a bit better. And adjust the secondaries, make sure the come on when they should. Held it in first gear till about 5500, it was doing about 65-70, then shifted. It pulls REAAALL good up there. I came to a complete stop, and put the pedal DOWN, the tires spun, the speedo said 30 or so, the secondaries open up, and the tires lit up super, the speedo goes up to 50, auto shifts, burns them till the speed says bout 60-70, gets traction, speedo goes down to about 30, downshift and takes off like a rocket. Fun Fun Fun!!!
Only problem was the passenger side was steaming like crazy, couldn't see wear it was coming from. Turn it off and I could see coolant dripping from the bottom of the header.... today I jacked it up and saw, what I was expecting, I could see it seeping from between the head and the block, pulled the intake and head, inspected the gasket (steel shim type) and found a small bit of grime near a water hole, on the sealing part. I cleaned up the gasket and am reinstalling it now. Hopefully be back in action tommarow. Gonna order some richer jets for the primaries and get them in there.

It sounds real sweet to now that it has headers, real impressive and rumbally!
Once it's back together I'm hitting the street with the G-tech, get a 0-60 time... I can do a 0-60 pull and never leave first gear!

    The build is-
    Stock untoched 100,000 mile block
Head- ported by me, machine shop intalled bigger valves, and milled .060
    ta212 cam
    ta comp chrome headers
    ta intake
    q-jet remanufacted

    Car is-
72 buick full weight 4 door, AC, 2.56 gears, performance rebuilt trans, and stock converter.
I hope to have some 0-60 times and possibally 1/4 mile times from the g-tech by sunday.

well... I got it back together, and I think the coolant leak is fixed. I was out driving last night and second gear started to slip on me.... now it's doing wierd stuff. It doesn't like to shift out of first gear, and when it's in second it slip real bad... 3rd... I'm not to sure bought third.... I really hope it's something not to hard... I already had this transmission apart twice....
I'm posting a more detail diag of the trans in the trans section, if anyone has any ideas on that...

I talked to a friend of mine that's a transmision guy, he said it's probally the outer race of the intermediate rollot clutch...
I dropped the pan and there is little peices of metal and such...
tommarow after work, gonna drop the trans, pull it apart, and order what I need... grrrr

probably unavoidable...i know a lot of guys are pushing th350s behind big blocks with no problems, right?

at least after the rebuild you'll know it'll be ship-shape for quite some time....how many miles on it as of now?

a little over 100,000 on the ticker, first 70,000 or so was put on my the original owner who bought the car when he was 72.... last 30,000 was ut on by a punk kid who like to drive his car hard... :Brow:
I rebuilt the trans a little more than a year ago, valve body mods and all. It shift hard into second, which is what the intermediate roller clutch is used in. The stock outer races (the thing that looks like a gear in my picture) are weak and do break under abuse/power. When they break, the roller clutch falls apart... and in my case bent a few other things along the way... Luckily they sell heavy duty outer races, which do not break, so I won't have to worry bout it again.

Picked up a used trans from the local junkyard for $80, out of a 72 skylark actually... supposidly works... gonna take the parts I need out of that, and I should be getting a heavy duty outer race tommarow, had that overnited here. $43 for the race. Hopefully get it back up there on thursday... need the car back for the weekend... a 88 ford ranger 2.0L just doesn't go over good with the ladies... lol :TU:
