I just got my 1970 GS 350 about three weeks ago. It needs a ton of work, and the previous two or three owners lost a lot of the parts, so I'm going to make this restoration (my first one) a resto-mod project. After the body work is done, a new trunk goes in, the rebuilt 350, all new stainless dual exhaust, and an all new interior. I plan on painting it the British Racing Green that is so popular, with plenty of metal fleck, but I'm not sure if I want to put a vinyl hardtop on or not. I also don't know what color to make the interior (the original dash and steering wheel [completely crack-free!] are a slightly faded tannish color that I just don't like). So if anyone has any suggestions on interior color, bucket seats, options for hiding stereo equipment, or anything else, I'd love to hear from you guys!

    Welcome to the Boards!

Please leave your name since we get to be like family around here.

British Green would go best with black IMO. It's the easest to dye and take care of.

    Enjoy your new toy!!:TU:

    Welcome!

It might help to see pictures of the color in question....

Watch out for the addiction bug on this board...it seems to suck you in without knowing:grin:

There is a 1972 GS color, like a medium green and it looks really nice with white interior and a white vinyl top. I have seen a couple of stage 1"s with this combo and they look real nice.:beer

    intro

my neighbor and i are going to sandblast the front end soon and change the wheel wells- i also need a new bumper (rechroming is too expensive and unreliable). some of my trim is so perfect i don't even need to polish it, but some needs replacing. im working 65 hours a week to pay for it as fast as i can, but im running low on funds. (hey, im only 17- cash is hard to come by). luckily, ive got it so a few people owe me a few favors, and i might even be able to get my neighbor to paint it for me when the time comes. id really love some suggestions on catalogs and websites where i can get stuff really cheap that looks really OEM. im not looking to make a show car, but id love to have this baby driving by mid-August.

    PS- my name is patrick:TU:

Patrick, post some pictures! Here are a couple tips for you... you can add your name to automaticly post (and most people add their car too) by using the Signature feature. To do this you....
    1. click User CP at the top of your screen
    2. on the bar across the screen select Edit Profile
    3. scroll down to the Signature field, and enter your information

In '70 there was a color called Sherwood Green, which was a medium-dark green metallic. I have plenty of pictures of this color, but none in very good sunlight. Maybe Marco or Mike Atwood would be kind enough to post pictures of their cars to give you an idea. Also, if you don't mind me asking, what is the original combo for your GS? I have a soft spot for '70 GSs if you can't tell :TU:

:) Welcome Patrick, a black vinal top gives that color a great contrast. I'm biased though, because I have a vinal top.
    PS. less waxing! :)

Welcome to the board! You should be able to find just about any information you need here. There are plenty of pictures in the members rides section if you want to check out different color schemes. There are ALOT of really nice cars, and owners  , on this board. Here is what 70 Sherwood Green looks like...... I have a ton of other photos from my restoration on my home page right here

mike, i think i've had some sort of correspondance with you in the past- an email or two. i asked if i should just use my buick 350 or use the cheap olds 455 my mechanic had for cheap. anyways, hot car- id love that exact color combo. im just starting to build up enough cash to get the project rolling, though, and i really don't have a very good place to work on my car (my dad has a '48 packard and a '53 packard convertible in the garage!) but i've already been looking at kanter and other catalogs, seeing what i can get cheap to do my front end work. thanks for all the tips, guys, and keep the suggestions coming!

if anyone can tell me the name of a good catalog to get complete black bucket seats from, id really appreciate it- im going to dye my good interior parts black and order replacements for the rest of them- the seats are all basically trashed, especially the front bench, so i want to go ahead and make the switch to buckets. also, id love to have a wooden sport steering wheel, so if anyone knows where i can get one of those fairly cheap, id love to hear from you. my email address is Spudboy930@aol.com- just send me a quick email with links or whatever info you can supply- thanx!
