I have never taken a car completely apart and reassembled it. Im not sure I ever want to do another one but Im pretty proud of this one. My wife loves it, this is her christmas present. I didnt even know what a 240Z was until I met her. She has owned 1 since she was 18 and since I have rebuilt this one for her she thinks Im some kind of a miracle worker. It is hard for most people to comprehend restoring an entire car. Here are some before and after photos.
Thanks, we have been asked to show it at the Portland roadster show next month. Toni drove it to Starbucks last week and she overheard one of the Baristas ask another what kind of car that is outside, the other replied that she thought it was an old Alfa-Romeo or Ferrari...... when my wife told them it was a Datsun they had kind of a puzzled look on their faces.....lol.
When 240Z's first came to the states (1970/1971), you could buy one for $2100 or $2200 if you could find one. Story Olds in Lansing had one of the first franchises for Datsun and had a waiting list over a year that required a $100 non refundable deposit. Lots of my friends got on the list after driving/riding in one. Only a few stuck it out and got one. Too bad they rusted so badly and so quickly. They sure were neat. I've seen a few with small block Chevs and Fords in them, even a 215 Buick in one. They flat assed flew then!
When I had the car car apart, my stage2 engine was on the test stand. I think it would have fit but my wife said no............
