IMG_4439.jpg Hi Everyone, My name is Pinder and I always wanted to fix up an old 60s car. I bought a 1967 Riviera GS which was not running I didscover a host of problems which I fixed. Im no expert so i this has been a journey. My brother is a mechanic so he was some help but mostly as useful as a choclate tea pot. Im going to post a before and after shot. and I will see if the video uploads. Right now its mostly complete the video does not have all the chome back on.

This car apprently has kenn bell cams. the previous owner said the engine was rebuild with .3 over and new kenbell cam 23 years ago then parked . When I got it it had a bent value so zero compression on cylinder 8. I think he tried to start it and did that as. I had to take the head off on the one side and rebuild the carb. THe float was out of its location. Also there was a short caused by some numb nut putting a long screw in the steering colum and shorting the blinkers. Almost fried the car when I turned the signal which metled the turn single switch. Had to open it up and re-solder. Long story. Anyway this is what car looks like today. Its been about 4 months of working on it. I think it looks better in black. Was white with green roof. I know most of you would think im crazy changing the color but I couldnt stand the white.

    Best regards

It looks GREAT Pinder. Can't wait to see it with all the trim put back on. Nice Job! :TU:

P.S. I did the same with my own car. Went from white to black. So that makes at least two of us that's crazy.:)

Yes will post some more pics. I will wait for a sunny day. its a bit cloudy here in Edison NJ. I think Orange is another great color. I did the GS symbols and engine block in orange to go with the black paint and did the rocker covers gloss black too with new decals.

When I did my GS over, among other non original changes I wrestled with making a color change . When the car was 90 percent done I had an epiphany. :spank:I realized I am building it for ME. why not make it my way ? Why rebuild the car to the original owners order? As a result the car was painted burnished copper, not plain brown. It also got disc brakes, HEI, an edelbrock carb among other non original details. That was 13 years ago and my only regret was not dropping in the muncie 4spdI had in the parts bin. I corrected that mistake during a build of 1972 GS suncoupe 455 4 speed clone build!

The copper looks great! Id like to add disc brakes too at some point .Right now I bleed the brakes and checked for leaks and everything was ok except the master cylinder had a leak on the rear so I rebuilt it with a kit and the breaks work very well. Right now I'm waiting for the spring so i can try and set the timing correctly. I really dont know what to set it at. Its at 15 deg initial timing. it has Kenn bell cam so not really sure which one it has and dont know if ignition timing should be set to something else. I might have to get a recurve kit? If i set initial to 35 then I can easily do a burn out. at 15 its runs smooth but no burnout possible.

I think your car in black looks great and the red/orange GS looks really great. I did mine in that similar color . Maybe mine is a bit more orange but it contrast well with the black.

As far as your timing goes, read this thread by Larry "the wizard" (they call him that for good reason, trust me) about power timing. Follow his procedures, you'll be glad you did.

I replaced almost all of the parts back on the car. (bumpers could do with recrome). I am still missing one Riviera sign on the passenger side ( it broke in half so will need to fix that) and have to replace two moulding on the doors at the bottom edge. Also need to paint a small areas on the inside doors that i missed when painting the car thinking the door panels would go over that bit. still need to do the recurve but cars is running very well and reliable. Cant wait for the summer so I can take it out more.
