Any ideas or suggestions? I'm still in the planning stages. :) The Event that I'm wanting to combine with (The Old Time Drags) is being held the same weekend as Gonzo's, July 23rd, so I still might try to do an Event on my own, depending on the amount of positive responses.

    buickdav Kris' other half.

Just checked out your page and rules. Just an opinion here and thats all I can provide, because I am in the building process. I see you used the F.A.S.T. rules as a baseline. I think if you would have stayed with them, you would have done better. And been easier to work with. THEN...if someone showed up and was not quite legal, you could have made consessions for them. F.A.S.T. racing is too cool, and I am trying to figure out how to participate myself. I could care less if I win or not, I just want to have fun. Just quick looking through your rules you loosened them up quite a bit. Reading through them I would have to honestly I wouldn't ever build a car to meet them. I would build to fast rules and maybe run your deal.

I like your dedication, and would LOVE to support your event. I think if a couple more FA/PS events were added out west here we would see more cars competing. Maybe not running as quick as the front runners but at least competing and having fun. I will watch your post here for further info. Tulsa is only a few hours away. :Brow:

That's what I'm looking for. I didn't want to copy the FAST rules too closely, even though I really like most of their ideas too, because there already is a FAST class. What's cool about the way I've got the rules layed out is, just about everyone fits in, from the PS guys, to the FAST guys, to the cars that look just like those cars (but with a few bolt-ons), to the guys that have a set of period correct wheels or even aftermarket wheels (as long as they aren't any larger than 15"). You don't have to build a car to the extremes of the rules, almost anything you build would fit into this class. This is all about racing in a best 2/3 shootout against a similar ETing car anyway, without having to break the bank to run respectably and having fun. From the grandstands, the average spectater couldn't tell the difference between a PS race, a FAST race, and my type of race (except the ET's and a few of the cars will have aftermarket wheels and some will idle like a ZL1! ).

For example, look at the white GSX at the top of this page next to the tool box. Is it Pure Stock? Is it FAST legal? Does it have aluminum heads, a single plane intake, headers, and a 200 shof of NO2? I can't tell from here and it don't matter to me, because they're all racing in a best 2 out of 3 shootout against a similar ETing car on hard tires anyway. I just want him to show up and RACE instead of going to some lame car show. :TU:

    Thanks for your time,

    Racing in Oklahoma

Man great idea. I posted earlier in the fall about racin west of the Mississippi. I live in OKC and the track in Noble has a Muscle Car race June 3rd I think. It has a Factory stock class and modified. I don't have any more details so I plan to attend and ask questions.
I also plan on building my own car this next summer or fall.

I'll have to look into that. I guess you don't know if it's all bracket racing or not?

No I don't know if it's bracket or not. It sounds promising though.

Wow, all I hear is crickets over here! 16+ hour drive must be too far for you guys to go race, even if there's money on the line? :Do No: :puzzled:

As you get more info give me a shout. I ran the old time drags in Tulsa last year and several times before that. M y car is not fast but I do have making passes and learning what to do to make it faster at the same time. I live in the Catoosa area.

Only suggestion I could make to consider for the future is if you want to get Northerners down South for a race, hold it in the winter or early Spring or late Fall. Year One's been successful with that. I'm going to try to make the Supercars meet in St. Louis this year on Labor Day, and the Year One meet in Atlanta in April. In between those, it's pretty solid schedule up here in Michigan, Ohio, and Illinois.

Our season is very compressed up here with a lot going on from June to September. Hard to take a long trip at that time when something is going on right in our backyard.

I have several cars. The one I am working on the most is a 72 Skylark with a 455/400 combo. It is way slow only a 15.16 was the best for last year. It still has the 256 open rear gears in it. It needs a lot of work on the paint dept, been working on that as time permits. Spent today putting a 454 in an 82 Malibu. Man does that look good! You car reach me at 918.266.6855. I will try go give you a ring sometime this weekend.

Low 14s with street tires high 13s with some soft ones. Not bad for an old nailhead. Also I told my brother in-law(He's building a 66 skylark with a 455 and a 400auto) that should run low 13s or high 12s, he's in. :TU:
