Well, the '58 is nestled in the Floyd Garrett Muscle Car Museum! :TU: Took it there last weekend.....left Friday night and got there Saturday morning. Floyd was impressed with the car.....but said "that fuel pump assembly isn't factory is it?" "Yes it is" I replied and showed him my Autorama placard as well as the large reprint of the June '58 Motor Life article showing the pump on the engine as well as apart. He was happy too see that, because having never seen one before it will save him a lot of arguments  A lot of remarkable cars there. So if your in or near Sevierville Tenn stop in and see that place, very neat! :TU: Might even be worth a special trip.
Congrats Brian. I will be at Tim Lopata's Forge show with some AMC's next weekend. I will try and visit for you. Mark
Awesome place, your car is perfect for there. Visited it a few years back. Congrats. So now that you have all that extra garage space, what's next?
Cool Mark. Having not even driven the car except at the track it was kinda hard to leave it, but knowing you had a couple there and some other feedback made it a little easier. Bert, the indoor pics didn't come out so I only have ones of the car in front of the building. I'll scan one on Monday and post. Dave I think it will be the '51 truck with the 2x4 283. That's the plan anyway. This one is low dollar all the way, using stuff that is lying around, free, or low cost. :TU:
That is one of the coolest museum's I've ever been to.I could have stayed there for hours on end. Floyd is great for our hobby! A wealth of knowledge and I could talk to these ol' crafty guys for hours too! If you're lookin' for schoolin'..............thats the place and he's the MAN! Way to go Brian! Thats huge of you to put it on display for all to see! That car certainly deserves the exposure!
Brian, that's quite an honor.... Floyd wanted to put my '68 SS427 Impala in there at one time, then a heavy cabbage box came along, and I parted with it... JH
Brian does like to expose himself. Congrats Brian. May have to go down........ ROAD TRIP! :3gears: Peter
I love that place!!!!! I stop whenever I am going through Pigeon Forge. Your car will definately get some attention there!!!! :TU:
Tribute Display Congratulations Brian! But right now, it's only a fitting tribute to the Merc'. I envision a display that would commemorate both car and driver. Next to the car should be a video display of the Merc' going through its paces at Stanton. Taped to the window... a timeslip. Inside, we need a scowling look-a-like wax figure of Stefina propped up behind the wheel, bending the shift lever as he grabs for a gear... and somewhere nearby... an empty case of some Labatt product. I'll pitch in some wax and a few empties. That'll pack 'em in!
Thats awesome Brian!!! :TU: I really do need to make a special trip down to the museum as I've been wanting to go for some time.
I was really blown away at the PSMCDR this year when I walked up and saw your car. It's truely a unique car and the quality of the restoration is outstanding. It's one of the coolest muscle cars I have ever seen. Floyd's museum is a great place for your car and people will love it. It will sure make some people ask questions! Floyd's museum is just down the road from the the old Al Smith Chevrolet where our '71 SS 454 El camino was sold new. Not a really good picture of your engine but for those who haven't seen it....
Hey Brian, how long will you leave your car on loan to the museum? A good friend of mine lent his original 1970 super stock AMX to an AMC museum in Wisconsin last year, he said were it not for all of his AMC buds begging him, he would have left it in his garage. The fact that you were able to just round up all the correct pieces for that car still amazes me.
Cool! Brian, that is way cool! Was at the Museum in '97, I think, way cool, need to go back! Hey! there's a 2 door 59 Bonneville in Toledo, I keep seeing, you want me to check it out? Looks stock, black and white.
Thank's for the feedback everyone. I'm tapped out Roberta, no new projects for a while just finishing existing, at least that's what I'm saying. Steve, Floyd likes to have them for at least a year but I will be getting the '58 out next August for Stanton P/S. It is after all for racing. :3gears:
Congrats on that honor! I have to make it down to the 'Meca' while the 'Merc' is in place. Sounds like something to do! Like Pete said.. ROAD TRIP!! :beer Is there a way that we could have the Casey Bash in Severville this Dec- Jan? :TU:
Mercurys at Garrett Brian, That is very cool. I'm certain that there will be a lot of people who will be looking at a '58 Merc for the first time, and will have never heard of the 400 horse option. Probably never heard of a '58 Merc come to think of it. Pegleg/Frank :beer :TU:
