I started my winter list on the Buick and one project is to find out the why number 6 and 8 cyclinders are still running hot on the exhaust headers.
We have been trying to narrow it down and have checked for vaccum leaks, valve adjustment, etc, and thought that it may be a problem with the valves.
I decided to do a compression test. I brought the engine up to temperature, unhooked the power to the coil, took out the spark plugs, and disconnected the power to the electric fuel pump. I thought that was all I was supposed to unhook.
They are all over 155psi. Next I figured I would do a leak down test. The engine was completely cold from sitting overnight and when I hooked everything back up, and cranked it over, it would not fire. There is no spark to the plugs.
Did I fry the box? Is there a fuse that can easily be replaced? I was later told that I should have also unconnected the distributor wire that sends the signal to the MSD box. Can anybody help?
