Hello, I have a Buick electra 1984. Recently I am having problems whenever I hit 45 or 55mph the car will clog up. It feels like when it hits 45 or 55 its hard to make it to 60MPH. I put on a flowmaster muffler, it helps but I still have the problem with the speed. If anybody can help me out TIA.

Do you still have the Catylic converter on it??? I used to have a car that would not go over 60 no matter what... turned out to be a plugged converter.

    Good Luck,

yes I do. The cat converter is plugged? Also if it helps, no idiot lights come on, and the trans shifts normal so I dont think its a big problem.

With my old car... It would run fine... get up to speed like normal.. until I hit 60.. then it was like hitting a wall. I could go from 1/8 throttle to WOT and not gain 1mph. but there was no miss, noise, hesitation, just sounded like the motor had nothing left.

If I were you, I'd pick up a length of pipe from autozone.... with some clamps. and cut the cat. out of there, and place that in there. If it starts to run fine then you've found your problem.

Weather or not you choose to run another cat is up to you. I've never run one, but I don't live in areas where they check emmissions.

They only check emmissions when inspection comes. for me its 9-1-04. But I will check out what you said. Thanks
