I'm considering buying an old Buick convertible, circa 1970. A friend of mine claims that if the motor or motors that move the top go bad, it's like two grand to fix it. Can that possibly be right?

Also, can anyone recommend a good source for a new top and rear window?

eh.. don't be quoted the 150 yet. thats for an A body. (skylark, GS)

the larger convertibles that use Scissor type mechanism use more expensive motors. http://www.hydroe.com/ they should have anything you could ever want. They also have conversion kits though for scissor tops to go to hydraulic.
