1970 M20 linkage GSX.... Before trying to add the reverse lock rod all linkage was in good working order and seamed to be properly lined up. The pictures of the linkage are all after trying to add reverse rod. I can not get all rods to line up properly. It appears they made different rods and rod adjusting ends for A-body maybe changing between 1969 and 1970 and I think I have the 69 type. Is this possible? My car was built April 70. Should I have the other type adjusting for the rod ends? And if so are the rods different between what type of adjusting is used?
Should I have a different reverse lock out rod plate or different rods all together?

I think you figured it out on your own. Im not sure what year those ends are for but I can tell you my GS has different ones on the rods..a nut on each side and the middle sleeve attaching to shifter and it just slides where ever the nuts are moved to make adjustments. My car does have the flat lockout piece as well not the one in your hand. Anything is possible but you do have the correct ears coming out of tranny. I think well not sure of 69 but 68 were different ears. If I had my car home I would drive it over for you to inspect since I just hooked up my m20 last weekend. Hoping to have her running Sunday...I can take pictures if you like or if you wait a few weeks I will have her home.

Looking at the picture more it doesnt appear that you could adjust that rod to work. It doesnt look like you have enough threads to bring that lever in line with the other two. Could be wrong one. If you want I can take that rod with me sunday and compare it to mine as well.

Gary you are saying you have identical brackets that are mounted to trans, minus the rear adjusting hardware?

What are your build dates? My build date is April 70. But it looks like I have 69 rods. Engine and trans are #'s matching, why would I have these rods?

Dave My car was converted to be a 4 speed with all the correct parts for a GS prior to my purchase so my build date wouldn't matter, but Jim's linkage looks like mine as well. I guess it could be 69 linkage. If you want to wait until I bring her home I will drop by so you can look at the my linkage and compare.

Dave, You have Hurst after market rods, you can see the Hurst part #'s stamped into them...

You need O.E.M. rods, Hope this helps... Crash

Dave --call Dennis Maroudas for the rods. He should have plenty plated or untouched.
