Wow these vert tops are pretty nutty. Frame partially installed, but I am in need of help again. I need to see the stackup for the programming arm bushing that attaches to the serrated plate via the serrated washer. Thought I had it all figured out but in practise there are some issues. And detailed pics or even better of one apart in the order of assembly would sure be helpful.

I has measured the bushing and thought it was long enough that you could tighten the nut down and that would clamp on the bushing which then clamped the serrated washer onto the serrated plate, thus allowing the arm to rotate on the bushing but still holding the entire assembly solid but in practise seems like the arms are not perpendicular and that causes some rubbing even with the spring washer on the other side.

The GM manuals (service and parts) and the Fisher body manual are uselsss for this. Parts book shows some stuff but the drawing is so small can't hardly make anything out and the parts list isn't much help either.Did GM actually build these assemblies or were they contracted out, and if so,who actually made them?? Would be awesome to get a copy of the assembly manual for the top frame assembly.

Also on the main attach point, it looks like the spring washer is supposed to be between the bushing and the metal bracket. Is that correct??

Top was in trunk when I bought the car....

    Thanks for any info.

Thanks George, I got the programming arm bushing stack sorted out (I was right), still not sure about the main attach bushing, pictures seem to show the spring washer under the nylon bushing.

Two other things though....one, is your top assembly perfectly centered when retracted? Also, the oddball bushing with the bolt through it that attaches the forward and aft rails together, once that bolt goes through there is another bow that goes over the exposed threads and then a nut to hold it. My bow is pretty darn tight to get it on, and once on pretty stiff. Being as it only has a nut, I assume it is bolted down solid and does not rotate at all?? Seems kinda odd...

Thanks George, it appears most people never look at their top assemblies or don't take them apart anyway...

If you need clarification on anything, let me know and I'll take some pics.

Never mind, I sorted it all out on my own. Works good manually.
