Great to see this section on hobbies. I havent been on here for a while and was very happy to see this. When its cold outside, or you cant afford to work on the "big ones", its a great way to pass time. I will try to post some pics soon. Until then, what do you have?

Thought I would post some pictures of my 1/24th scale slot cars. These are very simple to build and are a total blast to race. The chassis I use is a Pro Track. Readily available on Ebay for 39.95. The only other thing you need is your favorite plastic model.

because the engine is up front and uses a driveshaft, the model can retain its full interior.

Hows about some better chassis shots? I didn't know anyone was making front engine kits. Thats cool! Any odd torque tendancies with that conventional chassis layout?

yeah, they can peel out sideways down the straightaway! They handle about the way you would expect. They're kind of big and clunky, but they really are fun to race. The realism is where its at. Those lexan bodied wing cars dont do anything for me.

In fact, you can take the model's plastic wheels and use them as inserts in the slot car wheels.

The chassis is/was made by Pro Track. They were available as of a couple years ago. If you notice, the driveshaft is connected to the motor with a tightly coiled spring that acts as a universal joint.

In this image, you can see the body mounts I made. Basically, two pieces of brass soldered together at roughly a right angle. The angle of the upright portion mimics the angle of the side of the body. I drilled 4 holes and soldered the machine screws in. I used some scrap plastic to shim the interior tub so it stays tight. The removable hood was epoxied in place.

The body is attached using 3M double sided foam tape. The interior tub was cut out slightly for engine clearance.

I gotta say that I have like 100 1/24 cars and probably 300 ho scale cars. Never mind 10 miles of the old pin and clip tracks. Oh and I picked up about 100 pieces of the new AFX track because they are truly the best.

I just finished my attic to set up 2 18 ft by 3 ft layouts!! Can't wait to get it set up.

I race at this place. Its about 2 miles away from me. That 209' Engleman track is unbelieveable. That thing is tremendous! I can take that 63 Galaxie I posted pics of and go flat out though that high banked turn at the end of the straightaway.

Nice looking track. Years ago I used to race at Buzzies, on church ave. And now there is a place on 33 near freehold.

My buddy on Staten Island has a 5 thousand dollar HO layout in his 6 car garage. I believe it's like 80-100 running feet. If you ever want to run HO just let me know. We actually have the most fun with the hopped up T-Jets. But we race the new super g's also.
