Looking for a single cage nut assembly (body mount 70 Skylark) that did not survive the shell removal from frame. Anyone happen to have an extra in the junk drawer/5 gallon bucket? TY Jim/Rott:TU:

Last body to frame mount on driver side rear. Cage and nut are not in view unless you drill hole behind rear bumper or remove trunk floor. Cage and nut both destroyed when removing body from frame. I believe the bolt is 7/16th? Found some here, ---> http://www.autobodyspecialt.com/cgi-bin/commerce.cgi?preadd=action&key=A-25

Only need the one, was hoping someone had one before I buy one and pay more than it costs for shipping! Jim/Rott

Thinking I will go ahead and fabricate a cage and use and old cage nut, they want $6 for one , shipping $17! Jim/Rott

When we cut up cars I usually save these pieces with a section of the body braces. That way if I have to install one I cut out a small piece of the brace on the car and weld the entire new piece in. All you have to do is line up the hole and grind it flush after welding. When your done no one can tell you were even there.

I have done this several times for my friends.

Thanks for the tip , Duane. In the future, if/when I part out a car/s , I will do that . For now , since my build is not a concourse restoration, I am going to fabricate a cage and reuse an old cage nut. The object on this build is to make every attempt to stay on budget while building a fun driver to play on the street and track. Ty for your replies , Jim

    Jim,
If you put the whole piece in from the bottom then you don't have to hack up the floor above to install the cage. This makes for less work, of course this most often requires the body to be off the frame when you do this. (Unless your good.)

If you are interested in doing it this way I may have one of these pieces available. I can look.

If not then you can certainly fix it like you are doing.

Well, I had forgotten I need 2, not the one! Driver side by door mount as well as the driver side rear.

Needed 3 but one came on trunk support I am replacing. I accessed the "spinning" cage nuts with a 2" hole saw, then torched them out. You can see hole in rear support....

No issues accessing cage and nut now as left side trunk floor had to go.....

I still plan on fabbing 2 up, but I may bite the bullet and order them. Will see..... TY for your replies gents, Jim/Rott
