    MGM's DVD Class Action Settlement

all of MGM's 'theatrical wide screen' DVD releases for the last few years have been the pan-scanned versions with the top and bottoms cut off.
If you own any of the eligible movies, you have until March 31 to either opt to exchange your copy for $7.10, or a new DVD from MGM, presumably in its proper aspect ratio.

Media Giant sells you a legal DVD and rips you off:.. $7.10 per copy
You rip off Media Giant by downloading a DVD, you pay:.$150,000 per copy

Media Giant pulls this scam in an organized fashion: no criminal sanctions
You download DVDs in an organized fashion:.........: criminal record, PMITA jail time

Not sure if this is the right place for this. Move it if you wish, Mods.

    I read about that.

Good point with the illegal downloading comparison. The corporations don't seem to pay enough punitive damages.
