Metco Control Arm Question

Discussion in 'V-8 Buick Powered Regals' started by carhell, Aug 29, 2005.

I have a set of Metco aluminum lower control arms on my BBB 87 GN. I recently put a 9 inch ford under it and now the rear stabilizer bar almost fits, and would fit if I drilled two new holes in the bar. Would this make the bar too week as the new holes would be under the existing hole. The factory holes are staggered, and i need both holes in the bottom. Any input on this would be appreciated. Thanks, Shawn

Shawn, the rears are what "push" the car forward and up. If the old holes are above or forward of (and close to) the new ones, I'd be careful.

    Hey Shawn...

METCO offers steel brackets that attach to the rear sway bar mounting holes and provide a higher attachment point for the rear bolt of the sway bar on each side. These are made from thick steel and provide solid mounting for the sway bar. The purpose of these brackets is to keep the sway bar mounted close to the axle when the METCO relocation brackets are used, which lower the rear of the control arm. Perhaps these will solve your problem if used upside down.

It's also true that you can probably just re-drill new holes without any compromise in the strength of the arms. I would contact METCO directly (864/3325929) if you have any doubts.

    Good luck,
    Rick
