Making some 15x8" and Refinishing some Buick Rally wheels

My wife and I bought a 67' Skylark for her but it has some ugly aftermarket modern wheels on it. I was working on a fresh set of Buick rallys for my 66' so I told her she can have my old tires and wheels when I get this fresh set together. I was wanting some 15x8" wheels with lots of backspace so I can run some drag radials on them when I need them. The wheels on my car were off a 70' and the Painted Super Sport versions with the trim rings. I had a set of rusty 15x7" chrome ones as well as some 14" wheels in my stuff. I took some aftermarket 15x8" truck wheels and had my buddy cut the centre out of them on his lathe. I cut the centre out of two of my 14" wheels and had him tack them in place with as little runout as possible. Once done I welded them in and blasted the wheels. I sandblasted the other 4 chrome wheels and painted them all in silver Polyurethane enamel like my old set, I then did the black inserts. I now have a set of 15x7" and a pair of 15x8" wheels. The 15x8" have 5" backspace. I think they turned out great. I purchased some NOS centres from a member on here and will buy a new set of trim rings for them. Hopefully in the next few weeks I will purchase a new set of BFG Radial TAs and get them mounted up. I will wait for a bit before I buy the M/T drag radials.

Here is one of the centres out of the 14" wheels I had.

Here you can see the truck wheels in the background that I cut up a couple of to make the Buick wheels out of.

The two 15x8" wheels are the upper centre and upper LH wheels. The other 4 are the OEM 15x7" ones.

Here is my 66' with the old wheels that I will be swapping over to my wife. Basically the same as the new ones.

I bet you could make money selling those if the labor isn't too high.

I never did do a post of the finished results. I just purchased some reproduction GM trim rings with the stepped edge for the wheels locally when I was done. They are available from all kinds of sources. Look for trim rings for GM 15x7 wheels. Here are an example from Speedway.https://www.amazon.com/Stainless-Steel-Beauty-Rally-Wheel/dp/B09D8SJ51J?th=1
I love the look of these wheels and now the painted versions have grown on me to the point that I prefer them over the chrome. I love that it is a good budget way of salvaging some older rusty ones as well.
