Added my $35 (incorrectly listed) eBay find yesterday. This is for the Hemi guys. Just laid the shine on it for a big local event tomorrow morning. I used Adam's WD-40 trick on the engine bay. I highly recommend it.
Thanks! I spray a rag generously and wipe everything down with it. It leaves an excellent, temporary shine that lasts a few days.
What a great thread - just read the whole thing. Love what you have done with this car, Taking it to the next level.
Mom and I made the 65 mile round trip to Nantasket Beach in Hull, MA for their annual car show. The car ran flawlessly (and cool) and the weather was nothing short of perfect.
I went to a local show with Mom yesterday. As it wound down, a father and his 2 girls were checking out the Buick. In an effort to get/keep the youngsters interested in our hobby, I ask if they wanted to sit in the car. Both kids looked at each other - and their father - not knowing how to answer. After a few short moments, they happily nodded in approval and likely made a memory they won't soon forget. It's a shame more people don't do the same. If we can sit in these things and drive to an event, why can't the young people? Lord Vader: making kids happy since 1970.
Because I've run out of things to do... And because my passenger side kick panel cables still worked and aren't broken or cracked, I have new knobs coming tomorrow. The heat gun works wonders on removing the knobs. They came off in about 5 minutes total. I don't see a need to spend $120 when I can spend $16. The other kick panel carpet (of the pair I sourced at a upholstery shop near work) will go on with 3M spray adhesive. The black plastic seat parts will get bathed and refinished with SEM Laundau Black.
Clean and paint day this afternoon. While my plastic wasn't as "chalky" as some I've seen over the years, it certainly benefited from a bath and some SEM. New carpet will get glued on tomorrow. The bucket back on the left is the finished one: Lower aprons were filthy inside. The chrome trim around the edges is getting cleaned and polished later.
Would be cool to have yours..Frank's and my pops 70 455 4speed all together at once....three Black 70s....would be a wild seeing them all out on the prowl haha
Dying interior plastic parts is one of cheapest improvements you can do to your GS. For the cost of a couple of spray cans, it literally transforms the interior. Those parts look like 1970 all over again. It's little weekend projects like this that really add up.
