need a set of late 60's early 70's trumpet horns, my 782 Centurion originally had them according to the build sheet, but they are missing - need wiring also
I have a number of trumpet horns I have pulled off late 60's caddys and buicks. No idea exactly which one you need for a 782 Centurion -- thousand year-old parts are hard to come by, and the manuals I have from back then are in Latin  -- but maybe one of them will do. Got any idea what the bracket on the horn should look like? That seems to be the main difference -- hood-mount, fender-mount, and front-of-the-radiator-support-mount all have integral brackets bent somewhat differently. -- Steve
I might be able to scrounge up some picture of what they look like...but no guarantees, since I'm looking for thousand-year-old pictures!
Not bad for such an old picture! The trumpet horn is obvious, but you can barely see the big round horn behind the fender. It has a straight bracket on it.
The 2 extra horns for the "4 note horn" option are the long trumpet one, and the regular-looking one behind the fender. The regular one is slightly bigger than the other ones.
I'm very familiar with the four-note setup. I have three cars with that option. What I'm asking is: is the trumpet horn he is looking for lock stock and barrel identical to what you show, or does he need a different bracket on the horn? Where is his horn going? Hood? Fender as shown? Behind the grill? -- Steve
72 Trumpets I have to check a 11K mile car to be sure, but I think both the trumpet and the "clam shell" horn mount on the inner driver fender and point inward to the engine
horns Adam, I am going to check Bob's Limited - it seems to me the trumpet & larger clamshell horn both attach where you have your trumpet mounted, but they both face toward the engine - that is also how it is pictured in the 72 Accessory manual
Here are three different trumpet horns. Top one is an under-the-hood-mount horn from a 1969 Riv -- sorry, that one is a keeper. Middle horn -- flat bracket, but otherwise identical to the 69 Riv horn. No idea on what make / model it was originally installed. Bottom horn -- different shape to trumpet, plus the trumpet is steel vice plastic. Horn actuator is identical, though. Again, source unknown. Let me know if you have any interest. -- Steve
special Jim, it is an ultra rare special edition that only one was made and claimed destroyed by factory :spank:
mounting I have to get to my friends house and look at his 11K mile original 72 Limited with them to see the proper 72 mounting. I know they mounted differently than they did on my 69 225. I believe this pic to be the proper mounting for 72
Keith, I'll have to look but i believe the trumpet is mounted on the right side of the fender well in my 68 riv. Let me know if i can help you out.Tom
Hi Keith, Thanks for clearing up what a 782 Centurion is. The picture of 4-note horns that Adam Martin sent you is correct for '71-73. I have them on my '72 Limited and Riviera, and on my '73 Riv GS. The picture you posted of the horns pointing to the right (toward the engine) is for '74 Riviera, and possibly '74 Electra and LeSabre. My accessory parts book for '74 says the Riv 4-notes were exclusive; must be a different mounting bracket for the other '74s. I am looking for a set of 4-note horns for '74 Riv, if anyone has a set for sale. I would like to see the 782 Centurion sometime. Take care. Jim Foor
must be advanced engineering Buick must have been figuring on going to the pictured set-up - this picture came from the 72 Accessory binder
I've got the two smaller clams at the front, then a bigger one mounted where shown in the picture. Then another big clam, and a trumpet in front of the radiator facing sideways. Lots of horns is good for your health....
