Anyone have a recommendation for a good rebuilder of Delco starters? Looking for concourse type builder. Thanks.

I've heard that Steve the transmission guy with the GS up in Mendon does good starter work. I forget his last name, but the guy who used to go to Jimmy's bash. I've also heard the place on the rt that heads out of Lowell towards Pelham NH...is it Chelmsford Electric or something? It's not in Chelmsford, though. There's a rebuilder in Pawtucket called Yankee. There's Stellar on here. I don't know if any of those places are concours type rebuilders. You're wanting a date coded solenoid and all that? I've never used any of them, so I don't really know what they do.

Stellar did a nice job on my 70 alt and the starter I got from him was nice also. I think he can do whatever price range for the type of work you need.

Chelmsford Electric is in Tyingsboro MA. I know they do repairs, ( fixed 2 of my widow motors) not sure about concourse level?

    BUQUICK I'm your huckleberry.

Don't shy away from trying it yourself. It's not that tough. It's covered in the manuals and there are lots of online resources as well.

Dave yes, Steve Peluso, Lee Miles trans the Pontiac guy. He has a ton of cars and a GS, too. He was in JP or something and wanted to retire. But didn't have enough $ so he opened a transmission place in Mendon at the old airport near Imperial. Someone here said he does good starter work. The place in Tyngsboro has always had a good rep, I'm surprised you've never gone there. I know you drive by it a lot. The Yankee place, I would think George here might know about it.

I guess if i have them take it apart and take the outer pieces i could perform my magic on them and give them back for the rebuild if they would go with that.

Purchased a high torque starter for Pontiacs from him.Great starter. It would have cranked a nuclear submarine with cold reactor rods!

The starter rebuilder will probably want to do the work before you do your magic and then reassemble the parts after your work especially if the fields need to come out.
