I have a 1968 Buick Skylark convertible with the 350ci engine and an ST-300 transmission. I need a torque converter and pump body for the transmission. Anybody have these parts available?

Actually, with all the talk of people tossing their 2-speeds for TH350's, I could use the whole transmission and part it out myself! Bonus points if within driving distance of southwestern CT / Lower NY state.

    Thanks,
    Kirk

    Kirk,
Try this place HFT Am not sure if this is the same place I once used, but they got me many parts for GM trannys.

    Good Luck,

I'm in Ohio. Too far? Complete trans org. 80K for $30 bucks.

No luck there, but I found Fatsco in New Jersey. They had a rebuilt torque converter for $63, but alas, no pumps. Or rather, no pumps for the fixed-stator trannys, only for the variable-pitch model (go figure).

Ohio is a bit too far to drive. I could fly to Lorain County Regional Airport next to Amherst, OH in about 4 hours, but I'd have to take the seat out of my plane in order to carry the transmission home. Yes, the Cessna 150 is that small; but it's also cheap and affordable. Would you consider selling just the pump?

Right now I'm pinning my hopes on Buick Doctor - he's a relatively short drive. Or Northwest Transmission Parts. If they have the pump, then UPS can have it to me in a couple of days.

By the way, the casting number off the old pump is 1872543

PS - How compatible is an Olds Jetaway or the Pontiac Tempest Turbine?

Kirk, I have one from a '66/401 NailHead, but it's a switch pitch. I also have a trans. from a camaro, 2 speed. I'm in Stamford. My # at work is 203-324-6045

Thanks, but as I understand it, the switch-pitch pump is different (splines, shaft, internals, etc.). And the 2-speed from a Camaro would likely be a PowerGlide which doesn't share any parts with the Super Turbine.

    I'm surprised that a '66 would be a switch-pitch - I though they were only found in '64 and '65?

Pretty sure '67 was the last year for variable pitch...looks like you need '68 or '69 parts.

Another possiblity here, Pontiac Lemans from 64-69 used the 2 speed and were NOT switch pitch (Buick and Olds were). Try looking for a Lemans pump.
