I'm doing a frame off restoration on my "71" GS, 350,4-speed, conv., which is a low number car. I'm hoping to do a show quality restoration. My concern is that the carb that is currently on the engine is a 7041544MH0971, which, if I've done my research correctly is a 71 California AT 350. This does not match my combination, which should be 7041245. The car is all numbers matching except for the carb. So either a previous owner replaced the carb or the Factory simply put the wrong carb on because of the rare combination of a 350 4-speed. Does anyone have any thoughts on this ? My understanding is that this carb is extremely rare. HELP!
As far as performance goes, you would be fine with your existing quadrajet. If you want the correct 7041245 quadrajet, let me know. I have access to one with a 1381 build date.
